Made a proof of concept in Zandronum: can I replicate an Unreal Engine 1 map with the UDMF features currently present in Zandronum? The answer is, yes (mostly). It's 95% accurate to the original. Enjoy.

Phase 1 consists of 3 realms (AKA episodes). Each realm has 5 maps. If you count the Hub, there's going to be 16 maps. -

Summary: Day 1: "Oh god, JOM6 started, and I'm stuck at work, shit shit shit", get back home, map for the evening and then: "shit it's midnight already? I've only mapped 2 rooms." Day 2: "Oh god, 2 days left on JOM6, and I'm stuck at work, shit shit shit", get back home, map for the evening and then: "shit it's midnight already? I've done almost all rooms, and only the arena fight is left" Day 3: "Oh god, 1 day left on JOM6, and I'm stuck at work, shit shit shit", get back home, mapping during the evening I'm like: "I'm not gonna make it, I'm not gonna make it..." and then I made it. TL:DR: Pressure, but it was fun :V Thanks to @AtroNx for helping me with some Boom tricks. -

Jokes aside, congratulations for your efforts. This is an astounding milestone for your career. I've only played 4 maps for now, but it's a 2019 Cacowards contender for sure.

About your cons: - The compass was already present in Doom 2016, as mentioned by fant0m999, and you could already turn it off - Glory kills have always been optional, even in Doom 2016, as you could remove the flashing indicator. Plus, performing glory kills or not is completely up to you: if you don't feel like walking close to an enemy and press F, just don't. - I had the same concern as you in regards to the Pain Elemental not spitting out Lost Souls, but it looks like I must've missed it, as STILES saw PEs spit them out. Music itself works in the reboot context. A Pure oldschool metal soundtrack would feel kinda out of place for me, but that's just my opinion. The track you specifically linked sounds off to me: it still sounds very MIDI-ish, and would feel completely out of place in the reboot. The new Praetor Suit is cool, and again, in a reboot context, it works quite well.
