    Doom/ Doom 2 pop quiz!

Can happen in E3M9 Warrens. Open the gates from the starting area into the hell building by pushing the left skull switch, then hit the right one and run through like indiana jones before the gates closed. Doc Faust

    HAPPY Birthday, DOOM!

I agree. But iirc E1M9 sucks on nightmare skill. Doc Faust

What were you doing 15 years ago?

Buddy: "Played a cool new game yesterday" Me: "Hm?" Buddy: "Yeah, something like the new Wolfenstein" Me: "Like Wolfenstein - sounds boring to me..." Buddy: "Yeah, but this time you've got a chainsaw and a shotgun" Me: "Spectacular. Come on, lets carry on with that X-Wing level..." Took me about half a year before I gave Doom a try. Doc Faust

    Favorite level name?

Think this one has not been mentioned yet, but deserves some credit: The Manliest Fight EVER (DVII Map 31) Some others i agree with: congo (makes me think of "Heart of Darkness"), the living end, all E4M*, ... Doctor Faust

    Doomed Moon of Mars

Just found this one at the NASA website: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/image_feature_1199.html When I read the text below the picture, i wondered if their PR guy played to much computer games in the past...

    Doomed Moon of Mars

A funny fact: The escape velocity of Phobos is only about 11m/s. Start to jog and become almost weightless. Don't even think about straferunning - you would leave the surface forever! Going downstairs would be difficult, too. Jumping off a 3 meter ledge (think of the green armor gallery in E1M1) takes bout 30 seconds until you hit the ground - if the Phobos base is built on the dark side of the moon (On the side facing mars, you would have droped only 1m by that time).

    Doomed Moon of Mars

Yes, this nick was inspired by Goethe's Faust. Wow. Did you read the german version? Both parts of the series, or only the first?

    Doomed Moon of Mars

To be earnest, I do not believe the author is refering to DooM. Whatever, we knew Phobos was doomed since December 1993.

    Neglect of the Plasma Rifle

Ever played through Doom 1 Episode 1 without using the chaingun at Nightmare skill? I believe it will be doable in case you are a tough player or experienced pacifist runner, but I imagine it is much harder than mowing your path through all those humanoid monsters using the chaingun like i used to do...

Doom. Why is it such a satisfying game to play?

In my opinion, Doom is an arcade game. The way the game is presented at startup (just a bunch of still images and in-game demos), the absence of dialogs and cutscenes, hordes of enemies following simple movement patterns, fast paced action, relentless shooting and outstanding challenges. To summarize, all the elements that make arcade gameing so much fun are in there.

It can't be too late to buy Ultimate Doom!

Hi, you will find dozends of international resellers on ebay that offer factory packed Doom Collectors Edition DVDs for approx $30. I had no problem ordering one here in Germany recently. The Dollar is incredible cheap at the moment, so this is the right time to import US stuff. Faust

    Who is playing Doom today?

Reading this Website: A little while Contributing to this Forum: First time Played Doom for the first time somewhen in 1994, beeing about 15 years old. Suddenly got addicted and played for some years, though i did not enjoy Doom II as much as i did the original Doom (somehow i did not like all that funky music in D2 and the ugly texturing of the city levels). Recently i purchased a copy of Doom III and played the first three levels. The gfx and ambient sound effects are very nice, but the game itself unnerved me, so i installed PrBoom and bought me the Doom Collectors edition. Since then, i wasted too much time playing the original in good old 256 color mode, but never started D3 again (still i want to complete D3 someday, maybe after finishing plutonia). Never played a single game as much as Doom I, only Quake I came close. The gameplay is just incredible. Faust EDIT: 29y from germany, forgot that.
