  1. I've edited and uploaded some files from my old homepage back from when I used to review levels to my website. There are still some dead links that I need to fix and you're very welcome to report them to me in case I overlook them. As a bonus I actually managed to find a few zips that aren't available anywhere else (to my knowledge)! :)

      Mind boggling, but just because they ask for that price doesn't mean they'll get it. ;)

       

      Keep an eye on it for us. If it actually sells for that price, my whole concept of reality will shift . . .

      Yeah, I think so too. And I believe he actually signs your stuff for free if you mail it to him with a return label included. The price for that item is completely insane!

  3. So, Doom's birthday is right around the corner and I was supposed to post an update here with a 4 level wad celebrating it. Sadly, it's not finished. Only 2 maps are complete and a 3rd almost. The 4th is a long way off. The levels are themed after each of Doom's 4 episodes btw. I hope that someday I can find the time to finish them and release them.

     

    But all is not lost. Amongst all the awesome content constantly being posted here on DW, I want to point your attention to @DMPhobos' thread here, where he's done the exact same thing as I intended. And he's done it very well too! Go check it out if you haven't and take a day off and play all the other cool stuff that's bound to be posted within the next 24 hours or so! :D

  4. I've got an episode 2 map ready for testing in case someone's interested. A little rough around the edges I think, so any feedback is more than welcome! Also, if someone can help me make it so that when the bosses die, the level ends, I would be very grateful! As it is now, the end fight can be cheesed/avoided and it isn't optimal :( The map is Boom comp.

    EDIT: I figured out how to change the end fight with a dehacked lump. Still room for more to test the level, no need to be shy! :)

      Make a mapinfo file with cyberdemonspecial for example to get the boss end the level. Here's some instructions: https://zdoom.org/wiki/MAPINFO/Map_definition

       

      I could give it a go with testing :)

      But wouldn't that make the map zDoom only? I'm not really interested in that. Had my share of zDoomism accusations in the past! Not going back there! :D

      Yeah, I guess so but if you don't want to change the map into E2M8 instead it could be done with the mapinfo. Don't know if it would be possible with dehacked though. :)

  5. This particular area of a map has caused me a lot of headache. It started out as a Doom 2 map with custom textures back in autumn 2017 and when mappers block hit me, I decided to convert the area for Ult. Doom and use it for my 4 level mini-episode (wip). I copy-pasted the entire thing into an existing small part of map 4. In retrospect I shouldn't have... sigh. 9 months later and I'm still working on it and must have spent so much time trying to make it work that it's made me considder scrapping the map altogether! The changes have been many and drastic and among a slew of other things caused me to create an entirely new path through the map, so that the start isn't where it used to be a week ago. So, what's the lesson here? If there's anything to be learned it is that I'm not very good at stitching together scraps and don't have the courage (or time!) to start fresh. There's just no turning back now and I have to trust that it's good enough. This will be released for Doom's 25th birthday and how this map in particular will be received by the players once it's released will greatly affect my self-esteem! :D

      Oh boy, large and complex diagonal rooms are a huge chore to align the textures properly.

      Ohh, don't you worry about that, @Steve D! They'll come at you the second you set foot in their smelly lair! :D

       

      Yeah, you're right, @Ichor. That's exactly one of the many mistakes I made from the beginning. I should have never rotated it 45 degrees :(

       

      Btw. just putting up a small note here: Wanna help me playtest? Drop me a pm. The first level is 100% done and ready.

  6. Visits Doomworld everyday several times a day. Struggles to make interesting levels. Will I ever release anything again? Probably not. But it's not like it matters when there's no shortage of awesome stuff released everyday. Guess that's why I still hang around. Best community ever!
