Double click D3 Icon and game doesn't start?

When I double click the D3 icon sometimes my mouse will go busy and my hard drive will flicker then nothing happens. I hit ctrl+alt+del bring up taskmanager and see a Doom3.exe and ~e5.0001 in the list. Yet D3 is not running. Anyone else experience this and have a fix? My friend I talk to on the phone goes through the exact same thing as well and we have totally different computers.

Thanks for any info and I apologize if it's be mentioned and discussed before. I looked back through 4 pages of posts and didn't see a topic about it.

I get this also. It always starts for me after a couple of tries so I haven't looked for a solution.
