Apothem Posted April 20, 2003 What is needed to be done to make your own custom weapons? 0 Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted April 20, 2003 1. Replacement graphics for the weapon frames and the projectile (or whatever the weapon is firing), and replacement sounds. 2. An editor such as XWE, DeepSea, or WinTex to insert your graphics into a wad file. 3. A DeHacked patch if you want your weapons to behave differently from regular DooM/2 weapons. 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted April 20, 2003 Download WinTex 5.0 here, and WhackEd, a Windows version of DeHackEd, here. Wintex is what I mostly use for weapon design, but DeHackEd is still good, too. (BTW, WhackEd still saves files as .deh like the original) 0 Share this post Link to post
Apothem Posted April 20, 2003 Thanks, but one last thing that hasnt been cleared up- how is this coded. i mean how do you make the custom weapons behave differently? is there a tutorial that could teach me how to code my own weapons? 0 Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted April 20, 2003 To change the way your weapons work you can either tinker with the DooM source code or do what countless others have done, and use DeHacked. Follow the link provided by insertwackynamehere#. For excellent DeHacked tutorials visit Nigel Rowand's Little Place of DooM. 0 Share this post Link to post
