Switching to DoomBuilder - tips needed

Recommended Posts

First, DB is great combination of features and usability, and now I'm trying to learn much of its editing power.

Second, as a longtime WadAuthor addict I have a few hard moments in DoomBuilder. You know, some new interface paradigms aren't always clear for a convert.

There are questions:
- what is the most effective way to make curved stairs _inside_ existing sector and curved stairs in general (step by step guide would be great)?
- is there a painless method to make one-sided pillar inside existing sector?
- how can I split a child sector inside existing one (those highlights are real pain in the ass)?

The way I do it (assuming its what you mean), Create a sector where you want the pillar to be then in sections mode highlight it with the mouse and press delete, et voila.

All you gotta do now is texture it.

It would be good to have smart texturing when you're joining the pillar with 2-sided line though. For example if you'd join the pillar to 2-sided line it adopts an upper or lower texture of the line as its middle texture, and if backwards then 2-sided line adopts pillar's middle texture as upper or lower. Just a thought.
