Memfis Posted September 22, 2013 I want to make a timed arena map using vanilla actions only. To time everything right it would be very useful for me to know the speed of lowering floors and maybe some other moving stuff in units per second. Has anyone tried to calculate this stuff? 0 Share this post Link to post
printz Posted September 22, 2013 If I'm not wrong… Standard doors: 2/tic = 70/second Turbo doors: 8/tic = 280/second Standard lifts: 4/tic = 140/second (near 128) Turbo lifts: 8/tic = 280/second Standard floors: 1/tic = 35/second Raising bridges: 0.5/tic = 17.5/second (I believe) Slow stairs: 0.25/tic = 8.75/second (roughly the step height) And so on. In any case, Doom has these speeds 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, which need to be multiplied by 35 to obtain the units/s. 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted September 24, 2013 Thanks, this will be very useful! I wonder what do you mean by bridges though. Donuts? o_o 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted September 25, 2013 Possibly referring to floors that change their flat and sector effect. 0 Share this post Link to post
Springy Posted September 25, 2013 Regarding bridges, the 3D ones in vanilla work by using lifts I do believe (you can hear the lift sound in a lot of vanilla wads that use them), I'm not sure if he means that perhaps? 0 Share this post Link to post
