Naked Snake Posted January 24, 2004 Deathmatcher said:I read this "vanilla doom" a lot of times now. At first I assumed it to be a port, but finally came to the conclusion that "the original doom.exe" was meant. I am no native speaker, so is this some slang for something "original/old" or what? It pretty much means plain' ol' Doom 0 Share this post Link to post
Deathmatcher Posted January 24, 2004 Yeah, I know what it means by now. I would like to know the etymological origin of it :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Job Posted January 24, 2004 Deathmatcher said:Yeah, I know what it means by now. I would like to know the etymological origin of it :) Well, it's pretty simple. Vanilla was the "original flavor", say for ice cream for example. It was the first flavor. So you simply apply that idea to an unmodified Doom/Doom2 execute and you've got the reasoning for that term. 0 Share this post Link to post
bartwart Posted February 5, 2004 I imagine it's possible to beat on UV. I've done it on Hurt Me Plenty, but I prefer to kill all the monsters and still have ammo to spare which I usually run out of on UV. I save UV really for ultiplayer games. It's possible to beat Final Doom on UV if you run through it like a maniac. And Go 2 It is a really fun level that I used to play over-and-over again way back when. 0 Share this post Link to post
