help with demos

i've been playing doom for nearly as long as it's existed, but i just recently became interested in the demo scene. unfortunately, i'm having very poor luck with getting any demos to run. what is required to watch demos? the most i've accomplished is getting 30uv1617 to run horribly out of sync with prboom.

prboom + 30uv1617 should work absolutely fine. Perhaps your Doom2.wad has been modified in some way, such as a node rebuild. If so, reinstall from your original disks/CD, and make sure it is version 1.9 (i.e. patch up from, e.g., 1.666 if you have a very old copy).

Your command line should be something like:

prboom -playdemo 30uv1617

I have had some problems with multi-level demos in prboom.exe, but with crashes rather than desyncs. These don't occur with glboom.exe, or in prboom if the resolution is set to (IIRC) 640x480.

i reinstalled doom 2 and patched it again, and now it works. thanks for the help.
