Bashe Posted June 7, 2004 Well, freewebs.com/bashe/stuff.jpg]here you go. Damn those freewebs... you'll have to put in "www.freewebs.com/bashe/stuff.jpg" to get it. Those little bastards. What's with the reopening of the thread when you click on the picutre? Why does it do that? 0 Share this post Link to post
Nmn Posted June 7, 2004 Sillysounds? WTF? Doom64 for Zdoom? Nice (heh, I know that is the resource file from Black Aura's site) Your folder seems to be missing Eternal Doom. Go get it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bashe Posted June 7, 2004 Silly sounds... that's a wad I made. Replaces all sounds and can be found here: http://www.freewebs.com/bashe/sillysounds.zip That Doom64 wad is not what you're thinking of, that's a actually just a sound and sprite replacement. If you're thinking of getting Sillysounds, don't. You could try but for some reason it will take an hour to download for some reason even though it's only 2MB. I have DSL, so don't say it's 56k's fault. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted June 7, 2004 Wow.. that's alot smaller than my Doom folder is. In fact, an entire partition on my second hard drive (10 gig partition, in fact) is all for Doom esque junk. So far I've only managed to fill about 2 of those gigs, though :P 0 Share this post Link to post

Nmn Posted June 7, 2004 Bashe said:That Doom64 wad is not what you're thinking of... And what did I say? Resources, not the TC. It seems funny why didn't the Depot team switched engines-they could've used the Zdoomgl engine, which would handle stuff like coloured lighting with no problems (ya, I know, the only missing feature would be the glowing flats and vertical shading, but! the skyboxes could have been implemented). And editing would be easier, ACS is more friendly then XG (personnal opinion). Hmmm.. File sizes-I have a 1.68 GB folder named "Internet Stuff" where I keep all the stuff that came ONLY from the internet, not bad, eh? :-) EDIT: Now someone will come and shout:"Wrong thread". heh. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bashe Posted June 7, 2004 Yes, I know. A LOT of people have A LOT more Doom stuff than me, but I only keep the good wads I like. Also, that's ONLY my Doom2 folder. Doom and Final Doom are left out. I should just make one folder for all Dooms but I won't for now. THOUGHT ABOUT IT: Aw, hell. Why not? That way it can look like I can have a lot and be nice and organized. 0 Share this post Link to post

VinceDSS Posted June 7, 2004 Opulent offred me a HD full of doom stuff, and the HD is a 160 Go. I dont know how much there is there (I can't connect IDE to a laptop, if someone has ideas) but it msut be a lot :) Besides that, at home in France, I have an old copy of former CDRom.com + all the wads/demos I like from newstuff. Which prolly go around 5-6 gigs of doom stuff (being zipped). My doom folders (the ones I play with, no archive) is around 1 gig overall, full of unzipped megawads, pwads, demos and tools. I clean it once in while :) Always keeping the nice stuff. 0 Share this post Link to post
Donce Posted June 7, 2004 D:\GAMES\Doom2 Total space occupied: 731.270.543 bytes in 2.234 file(s), in 10 directories Actual space used (considering cluster size) on source drive: 736.022.528 Bytes This is the working dir of doom2 (udoom, evilution and plutonia are in their own dirs but contain much less files). Wads and utils are also being kept separately. I think I gotta clean it, because I occasionally boot in DOS mode and Norton Commander can't show more than 2000 files in a dir. Well, there's always Volkov Commander which can... Btw, of those 2234 files 1533 are demos occupying 80 megabytes. A number of those demos are archived somewhere else on my HD while others aren't so I just hesitate to delete any. Ok, I'll go further: 16 files (734 kb) without extension; 3 .bas files (1227 bytes) - that's the sources of 3 versions of my own written little qbasic program to evaluate how difficult a level is if played without savegames; outputs a single number per level. 32 .bat files (23 kb) - you of course know what batch files are. 1 .bex file (520 bytes) 1 .bmp file (1778 bytes) - that's the soulsphere; I once used it as an icon for wadfiles. 38 .cfg files (161 kb) 3 .com files (31 kb) 1 .config file (5 kb) - that's prboom.config 1 .csc file (748 bytes) - keys.csc, have no clue what this is 4 .dat files (3.5 mb) 16 .ddf files (295 kb) - leftover from dosdoom 1 .def file (12 kb) 10 .deh files (80 kb) 1 .diz file (118 bytes) - guess what, it's file_id.diz 16 .dll files (3 mb) - those certainly weren't here when I still had a 486 and only played under DOS 3 .doc files (24 kb) - some people prefer this format for wads' readme for some reason 26 .dsg files (2.5 mb) - ya know, saved games 7 .edf files (222 kb) - similar to .ddf but newer I guess 82 .exe files (31 mb) - never heard of this format 13 .gif files (391 kb) - all of these are screenshots of albillo.wad 1 .gwa file (1 meg) - doom2.gwa, what's that? 2 .htm files (2465 bytes) 2 .html files (25 kb) 2 .ico files (3004 bytes) 8 .ini files (34 kb) 1 .isu file (2067 bytes) - some uninstallation file 6 .jpg files (240 kb) 2 .ldf files (224 kb) 1533 .lmp files (78.5 mb) - see above 4 .mid files (165 kb) 2 .mus files (70 kb) 1 .op2 file (12 kb) - genmidi.op2 50 .pcx files (2.5 mb) - intentional and unintensional screenshots 13 .pif files (12.5 kb) - oh no, viruses! Not really, these are the real DOS shortcuts 1 .scr file (1454 bytes) - edge.scr, doesn't look to be a screensaver 1 .sfg file (2649 bytes) 1 .tch file (111 kb) 1 .tmp file (174 bytes) 17 .txt files (254 kb) - among them there's legacy's errorlog.txt occupying 145 kb 117 .wad files (332 mb) - when I had a 1.6 gig HD, I only used to keep around 10 wads here 14 .waw files (994 bytes) - I think Wadauthor shouldn't create .waw files for single-level wads 10 .zdo files (38 mb) - Zdaemon demos, mostly recorded by me 4 .zdp files (43 bytes) - just I put there the names of wads I played when recording those Zdaemon demos; I sort files by extension so .zdp will always follow .zdo 1 .zdr file (55 bytes) 7 .zds files (584 kb) - Zdoom saves 2 .zip files (230 kb) I hope you didn't read all of this. Well if you did, you just saw how messy my doom2 dir is :p 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted June 7, 2004 My ZDoom directory... d:\games\zdoom\ Contains the ZDoom executable, all my IWADS (I'm missing Deathkings), and WADs that I'm currently working on. Also in the ZDoom folder: .\DEHS\ Contains the DEHS for any WADS that I've downloaded. ZDoom automatically searches here, so if I were to fire up Zombies TC I'd just put in ZDOOM ZOMBIE -DEH ZOMBIE. .\WADS\ The WAD files and their text files. .\MYWADS\ Where I put all the WAD files I save in Doom Builder (when I ever do save them). .\SLIGE\ Obvious...but also contains ZDBSP and BSP for building the nodes for Slige's output files. .\GL\ Contains the ZDoomGL executable, and the INI inside points to all the other directories. .\DOOMFU\ Contains ZDoomFu, a hack of ZDoom that allows crouching and demonstrates a work in progress of a DoomFu mod (look it up on the ZDoom forums). The INI points everywhere else. .\SCREENIES\ I have all my ZDooms set up so their screenshots direct to this folder. I also have an Edge directory, in which I keep a Doom 2 IWAD and several PWADS that I play with Immoral Conduct and my own hack-job mod. I probably have about 100-some WADs. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted June 7, 2004 A basic overview of my Doom folder: /FRONTEND/ Contains the frontend I use to launch Doom, which supports any and all source ports, has all my iwads in one folder (so I don't have to have 30 different copies of each IWAD, and the following source ports: PRBoom, Doom Legacy, ZDoom, ZDoomGL, Doom64 TC, and JDoom. /EDITORS/ Contains all of the editors I could ever need for editing Doom levels. This includes the following editors Doom Builder, Wad Author, DeepSea, Wintex, eXtendable Wad Editor, and WhackEd. /WADS/ Contains all of my wad files which are slightly organized by engine, and a production folder, which I keep all of my works. /ALPHAS/ Contains all of the Doom Alpha versions. /TEXTURES/ Contains any textures that I might consider to use in a map, with both high-resolution and palletted textures. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kaiser Posted June 8, 2004 my doom2 directory I would post my 'dir c:\doom2\' command prompt, but it can't display all 947 files in that folder.. Most of those files I got are those damn timidity patches for Prboom.. And there's too many folders for me to post. To sum it up, I have a directory for source codes, editors, little utilities, and one directory for Strife. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bashe Posted June 8, 2004 Yeah, it would be could to have a directory 675TB... Now that all my Dooms are in one folder, I have to remember that when I start it will prompt me to choose a game. I'm cool with that. As of now, my combined Doom folder is 617MB, and I picked up Eternal Doom. Seems good, but I haven't been able to actually play a level yet. 0 Share this post Link to post

Oh No Its Kyle Posted June 8, 2004 LMAO, this is great. You guys keep all of your stuff in one folder? Hahahaha. I'm so unorganized, I must have at least ten copies of each of my IWADs because I have three different versions of ZDoom (One is ZDoom GL), I have Risen3D, Doom 64 Absolution, jDoom, DoomGL, Doom 95, and an original Doom 2 exe all in different folders. And not even the folders are in the same place! Four are in my documents, three are in the root C: folder, and one is in Program Files! :/ 0 Share this post Link to post

DarkknightXC Posted June 8, 2004 Donce said:[b] 1 .gwa file (1 meg) - doom2.gwa, what's that? EDGE will run glBSP on any WAD file once since the renderer requires it. The resultant file is a .gwa. Its noteworthy that EDGE will only recreate a .gwa if the WAD file has been modified since the .gwa was created. 0 Share this post Link to post
