I think that brown rock texture (is it called "MUD"?) is not good for very long or tall walls. It is way too uniform and just doesn't look nice or convincing when repeated many times. Something with more pronounced rocks would work better imo.

yep. Planning on going full retard with the effect, see if I can do fakeass bump-mapping effects on cavern walls etc.

I once posted a similar question, and I was given the advice to break up my map into two/three levels. I didn't follow that advice, and my map suffered.

Unless an 'epic journey' is integral to your level, I'd recommend truncating it off into a two/three levels. It's harsh at first, but after a day mulling over the linedefs the inspiration will come back.

Also, it looks somewhat linear... which isn't necessarily bad, but I thought I'd point it out.

A little comeback into Somewhere in Time. Wasn't able to do things that makes much sense, though. :/

WIP area from Nukepolis. Just the everyday things: nuke-flooded city and jumping puzzles.
