pistol start Doom 2 map10 strategy?

What's the best way to approach this map from a pistol start? I never have enough ammo to combat all the 486 million pain elementals. Grrrrrr.

Get the shotgun and chaingun as fast as you can so you have a fighting chance before pulling the trigger, for one thing.

Point, click, shoot and use corners to your advantage. It's not that hard. :P

Run around the map triggering everything. Let them infight. Run around the map about 20 more times. Don't die. Kill whatever remains. Hit the exit switch. Tadaa!

Easier said than done, but that is how I have done it in the past.

there's a shotgun secret in the starting room. Also if you can get to the chainsaw without unleashing all the PE's it gets pretty steady from there.

Get the secret start shotgun, keep moving and don't let yourself get cornered, keep an eye out for Pain Elementals (esp the ones in closets) so you don't get a surprise cloud of Lost Souls in the back and/or wasting all your ammo. The rest is just skill.
