If you had to pick your one favorite IWAD level...

Which one would it be?

It can be from any IWAD sanctioned by ID (i.e. TNT, Plutonia).

As of right now, my favorite map would be Map 12: Crater from TNT. The one secret area with the slime waterfall is probably one of the most breathtaking areas in any original Doom level IMO.

So, what's your favorite Map?

Edit: You can choose any ID sanctioned level, so I guess it can also include stuff from Hexen, Heretic, Doom 64, or even the Master Levels from Doom II, even though it isn't an IWAD.

Mine is level 14: Genesis from The Plutonia Experiment. Gameplay is great and that area where you get the super shotgun is just...awesome.

I'm cut between Industrial Zone and Pharoah, though at the moment I'd have to go with Pharoah. Beautiful scenery, beautiful music and fun to play.

The visuals in Pharaoh are excellent, but some of the fights bug me (such as the room with hitscanners in the walls that you can't see). Still a great level, though.
It's hard to decide my favorite level, but I'd have to go with TNT MAP09, which has a great layout, gameplay, and detail. It also is fun to see the walls covered with blood on any source port with blood stains.

I agree with the slime waterfall, that was amazing when I first saw it (And I first saw it in PSX Final Doom, not PC so it was smaller)

The level before the hell segment is awesome, with the fenced mountain paths, but the absolute greatest map of all to me is Mount Pain, with its purely graphical titular mountain in the distance with all the teleporting lost souls, giving an illusion of a flickering mountain. Evilution has a special place in my heart for all the things like this in it. Great anticipation for the tribute project as a result

MAP16 from Doom2 is probably my favourite. Trying it from pistol start ushered for me an entire new way of playing Doom and gaining a respect for the way Doom was designed. The way it played altered by so much I was floored by it.

Wouldn't be the same if I played it again of course, but it left an impression that changed the way I see Doom.

In the first time I played it, I got terrified when I first saw the Mancubus. And after killing those big things firing lots of huge fireballs at me, then it came the worst: Arachnotrons! WTF! Mini-Masterminds!?

E1: E1M7, big and cool level

E2: E2M5, big and cool door system

E3: E3M7, cool teleport system

E4: E4M2, I don't know why, gameplay is fun in it

Doom II:
P1: MAP04, the best although i hate it

P2: MAP11, good atmosphere

P3: MAP19, music + big

P4: MAP29, music + cool stuff and atmosphere

P5: MAP32, good arena for bosses

TNT:
P1: MAP03, atmosphere and effects

P2: MAP08, music + the huge area with teleporting monsters

P3: MAP16, creepy music but i like and hellish

P4: MAP30, music fits the action in this map

P5: MAP32, music + fun gameplay

Plutonia:
P1: MAP03, the circular ways

P2: MAP07, castle-like which i like

P3: MAP12, music + i love wood

P4: MAP21, similar to Circle of Death

P5: MAP31, atmosphere and danger

The Hunted from Plutonia Experiment.....I forget which map number it is, but it's the maze with all the arch-viles. Very original.

If Hexen is included in this, then Darkmere.

If you mean just Doom/Doom2/Final Doom, then it's hard to say. The shortlist would be something like lv09, lv14, e4m2, pl24 and some others, and I'd probably give a different answer each time.
