Doom RPG + RLA Multiplayer Question

So.. How does it work? I'm trying to set up a multiplayer co op game with TNT as the megawad and my friend cant join. It just says "Contacting Host" Or something and wont join. We live about 30 minutes away from each other, but shouldn't it still work? We copied Ip addresses from our Evolve Party, My Ethernet, and my Internet, But it still wont work, it doesn't give a specified port either, so any ideas? Ive been REALLY wanting to playing this with my friends for so long and I just need someone to help me with instructions or things I'm missing.
