Scythe X demos (complevel 2)

YAY!!! Scythe X! Some great maps in there :)

I did Map01 UV -fast in 0:48. Crappy tablefiller.

Also did a pacifist session, but the first linedef trigger fails too often - it's very painful to bump into the closed door again and again and again :(

i agree with angus, i was getting frustrated by unintentional linedef skips on almost every map, especially 05. other than that, this is delicious dooming.

map02 UV-speed in 0:32
map03 UV-speed in 0:39
map04 UV-speed in 0:48
map05 UV-speed in 0:16

02, 03 and 04 are decent, 05 is shit, but it was getting on my nerves too much.
i did a quick effort 15s on 01 too, and gave up 14 as 'too much work'... glad that's resolved already. :)

Did my first two demos. Map 8 UV-Max in 4:17 showcasing a RL jump to get the RK early and a map 10 UV-Max in 2:27.

Map 8 has the best chance of seeing improvements as there were several ugly spots in it...although I do tango with the cybie at low health.

Map 10 is much less ugly, but I do manage to muck up the final area some.

I had 0:35 on map04 but the demo crashes for some reason in both prboom and prboom-plus.

I have a crappy 0:36 as well, I think 0:30 is possible on this route.

Works fine in both.

Probably you have dual- or quad-core system and very outdated prboom-plus which is not able to use only one core (process_affinity_mask 1 in cg, it's needed for SDL_mixer on multicore)

EDIT. heh, I have understood you incorrectly. PM me your 0:35 run in case, if you use the latest prboom-plus and you have crash, because I think it's impossible to record a demo and have no ability to watch

No crash here. Demo is just unfinished. It is precisely 4096 (one cluster on hdd) bytes in size ((4096-13)/4/35 = 29 secs) and even has no ENDDEMO marker (0x80). Something happened during recording.

damn, that's a pretty big shortcut. i messed with it a bit and got 29. hope you don't mind me stealing it. :) i think the full route is a bit more interesting to watch, this one avoids some danger areas. but speed must flow...

If you want to try the maps with a more HR-esque style, try "-solo-net" in prboom (or just play coop)

So I tried it. Actually, this mode of map 1 is much more exciting than original UV-Max.

Two pacifist runs.. in 01 it took some time to get 16s after i did an indecisive 17s "pacifist" where it was hard to say, even in the slowest game speed in prboom, whose shot exploded the barrel. Here I included a similar 16s bonus demo, but i really don't know if this also qualifies as pacifist ;)
03 is probably to be improved
