Terrorist Shoots and Kills 80 in Norway

Recommended Posts

Fuck, this is some sick shit. That dude fucking shot 84 (the numbgers might still rise) kids on that island.

I have quite a few friends that worked in offices as close as 50-100 metres away from the downtown bomb. Luckily none of them got hurt or worse.

I've been hearing about this on-and-off all day - bloody sickening. Hopefully they'll find a nice quiet padded cell for this nutcase and throw away the key.

My condolences to the relatives of the deceased.

What the hell did Norway do to anyone? That's terrible, my thoughts go out to the victim's family.

Information is slowly leaking, and it seems the guy who did it is some sort of fundamentalist christian. Things also points towards him being an "Israel-friend" and Norway just "voted yes" for a Palestinian state, so this might have been a trigger too.

I can't imagine how he could have twisted murdering children/teenagers into anything remotely close to being Christian. It sickens me.

A grotesquely warped mind and a cowardly piece of shit. At least he didn't have the luxury of killing himself so that he can hopefully spend the rest of his life in prison.

The maximum prison sentence in Norway is 21 years. I don't know what kind of workaround they're going to pull, but I'm sure that overhead is sure to change.

You see, this is why religion gets a bad rep in the first place. It's shit like this that does that. Extremist bullshit is on the rise, and I fear that one day something real bad is gonna happen if this doesn't quit soon. My prayers and thoughts go out to those ppl in Norway...

...Killing for religion. Something I don't understand...

Oh damn. Last I heard, there wasn't a death toll. That's pretty fucked up. It's definitely very similar to the Oklahoma City bombing.

There is something called "forvaring", whcih I`m not really sure how to translate, but it works like this: A person spends 21 years in prison, but after those 21 years, if _still considered dangerous_, he can be kept for another 5 years, and this can go on and on every 5 years. I guess this will be the case for this person, heh.

He is also a former member of "Fremskrittpartiet",free-masoner,opposing massimmigration from Arabstates,EDL,zionist,anti-nazi but don't tolerate islam, socialisthater,Geert Wilder supporter and he likes to compare Islam with nazism.

Wich i dont find any relevant.
This person was a hateful and lonely pschycopath with love for weapons and he thought that he could do something good for his country and got the stupid idea of killing political enemies.(my theory)

Deathpunishment is too good for him...

EDIT: For detailed info on the twinattacks, see http://www.dn.se/
The site is in Swedish but you can copy-paste the address in Google Translate.

This is terrible, yet in the middle of all this, I can't help feeling disgusted by medias using photographs like this with their news.

<redneck American>His mind broke enough that he was willing to gun down the people he didn't like, and yet he stayed sane enough to do well at it. There's only one lesson here: Scandinavians need to be watched; they make the scariest potential terrorists! We need to lock that place down HARD! </redneck American> (Thankfully those types are probably a minority of Americans despite appearances on the news.)

I seriously hope Norway doesn't take wrong lessons from this as much as everyone else in the world has been lately. Paranoia and security theatre haven't done any of us good in the last couple decades.

Canada would treat this guy in a similar way to Norway. Our "life" sentence is only 25 years, but if they remain convinced you'll kill more people you aren't coming out.

Although I agree with the sentiment, I haven't seen any convincing reports yet that the attacks were religiously motivated. It seems that he was probably motivated by an extremist right-wing ideology that led him to hate "Muslims, Nazis and Marxists" rather than extremist religious / Christian fundamentalist beliefs. But I may yet be wrong - it's possible that there was an underlying religious extremism behind those beliefs. He did at least describe himself as being a Christian. It seems hard to judge exactly why he did it at this point.

There's an archive of some of his online comments here that give some insight.

Well, no you see he's a white christian, he can't possibly be a terrorist, what are you thinking?

On a more serious note: It's funny, CNN and Fox initially called the event terrorism and there was quite a bit of new coverage and wild speculation as to how al-qaeda might be involved and this and that....Then they found out it was a white christian dude and the news, just stopped, literaly. Cnn, retracted articles that mentioned terrorism and started calling it an 'attack'. I've been 'watching' fox news most of the day today and they have shown nothing on this, not even alluded to it.

THAT is some bullshit.

edit: right now: CNN is reporting hot news about amy winehouse. Fox news? Well, they have graphics that say: 'myth; unions helped blacks' and 'myth: unions have kept american workers safe'

It's clear we aren't suppoed to care about this because the dude was a white christian and it didn't happen here. Pretty sad for what is the largest act of terrorism since 9/11.

edit 2: even the fucking BBC refuses to call this terrorism.

Considering how many Americans live in cities and think the world would be safer if law abiding citizens were prohibited from owning firearms, yes, that stereotype you mentioned is a minority of people.

Involuntary commitment. he'll get some psychiatric care as well, if it's like the US.
