People talk about fascism and socialism like the 2 are at the separate ends of the political spectrum, like they are 2 completely separate extremes.

However, the more I think about it the less true this feels to me. Allow me to explain...

Socialism is based on the idea that the state should protect the nation's collective interest rather then allowing private parties to control the majority of the nation's economic development. They also believe equality is vital and that this means no single person or groups can own way more stuff/money then some other groups. In addition, some forms of socialism such as communism believe in a revolution where the workers are suppose to rise up against class enemies such as capitalists and create the dictatorship of the workers. There is also often strong internationalism where socialists believe that nationalism is evil because it distracts workers away from class struggle against class enemies.

Fascism, if you look at its early history and early followers, is clearly at least partially inspired and based on socialism, and in a way could be considered to be the "right-winged twin" of socialism.

For example, Benito Mussolini (the original fascist and creator of fascism) was originally a socialist but then later turned on the idea of socialism because he did not like the internationalism and equality part of the socialist idea. He did however like the idea of a strong state directed national community just like socialists do. And thus, confronted with a situation where he really liked some aspects of socialism (state directed national community, control over the economy) but hated some others (internationalism, equality) he responded by creating his own spin-off ideology: fascism.

He kept the idea that the state should be the force that holds the nation together and protects collective interest, as well as the idea of a state directed national community and economy. But he dumped the idea of equality and replaced it with "the survival of the fittest", and dumped internationalism also in favor of nationalism. And then, instead of making the revolution be about the workers rising up against capitalists, he made the revolution be about the nation rising up against enemies of the nation.

If you look at socialism and fascism in this way, then it becomes obvious that both socialism and fascism both use the same basic idea template and that the only real difference is that some extra ideas are then added afterwards depending on if you are left-winged or right-winged:

Basic idea template:

-State protects collective interest.
-State directed national community.
-State directed economy.

What leftists believe:

-Equality is important.
-The upper classes need to be kept under control.
-Nationalism is stupid and nations should work together.

What Rightists believe:

-Inequality is normal.
-Nationalism is good because it protects the nation and hold it together.
-The national interest takes priority over international co-operation.

And thus:

-State protects collective interest.
-State directed national community.
-State directed economy.
-Strong internationalism.
-Everybody is inherently equal.
-Revolution against class enemies.

-State protects collective interest.
-State directed national community.
-State directed economy.
-Strong nationalism.
-Everybody is inherently unequal.
-Revolution against national enemies.

Because socialism was created first, and early fascists like Mussolini and Oswald from the British Union of fascists were both socialists before becoming fascists, it only makes since that Mussolini and the early fascists created fascism in response to their dissatisfaction to some elements of socialism so that they could have their own right-winged version of socialism that kept the bits they considered to be good while replacing the bad bits with new ones.

Socialism and fascism are NOT polar opposites, they are merely 2 sides of the same collectivist coin: The left side and the right side.

Also, consider this:

wikipedia said:
Mussolini in September 1939 informed fellow Fascist official Giuseppe Bottai that the internal differences between fascism and Bolshevism had grown less acute over time and noted that both fascism and Bolshevism held common contempt of the "demo-plutocratic capitalism of the western powers". In October 1939 Mussolini had considered making a public statement to the Italian people that would announce Fascist Italy's abandonment of hostility to the ideology of Stalin's Soviet Union by claiming that Stalin's regime had effectively dissolved Bolshevism and that it had been replaced by a Slavic fascism

wikipedia said: Similar to Mussolini, Hitler believed that Soviet Bolshevism was transforming into a form of Nazism and said in 1934:

It is not Germany that will turn Bolshevist but Bolshevism that will become a sort of National Socialism. Besides, there is more that binds us to Bolshevism than separates us from it. There is, above all, genuinely revolutionary feeling, which is alive everywhere in Russia except where there are Jewish Marxists. I have always made allowance for this circumstance, and given orders that former Communists are to be admitted to the party at once. The petit bourgeois Social Democrat and the trade union boss will never make a National Socialist, but the Communist always will.

—Adolf Hitler, 1934

Those quotes speak for them self's.

The reason for why I am posting all of this is that I am sick of some people that consider them self's socialists or even just leftist in general endlessly whining about the "evil right-winged" and how "fascist" they are.

Feel free to dispute it if you want, but its the way it is.
