This savegame on E3M6 of serenity.wad causes the above crash. It was originally saved with Rebirth (old, I know) but the same crash happens in both that and r2160.

Eternity savegame files are not version compatible. It's a bitch, I know, but your only option to continue such a game is to play it under the same version you started it under. This has been the case all the way back to vanilla DOOM, and BOOM/MBF/SMMU devs all failed to come up with any way to address it.

EE has made baby steps toward trying to make it possible to at LEAST not load up expired saves and therefore crash the game, but it's not quite there yet. In the future I actually want to do yet another save system rewrite and add full versioning information and features such as at least starting on the same map with reasonable player stats, much as would happen in DOOM 3 if you loaded up a save created before applying a patch to the game.

*Edit: wait you said it happens in the original version it was saved under as well? That's odd, though, Rebirth did have some savegame issues that were addressed between then and now.
