Doom 2 Tournament at QuakeCon 2013

We've recently been informed that among the two Quake Live tournaments scheduled for this year's QuakeCon that there will also be a Doom 2 tournament. Apparently Doom has never been played in an official QuakeCon tournament before.

I'd love to hear the details of the Doom tournament, hopefully it's played with respectable settings. Considering attendance if I knew any details about it

Heh. I'm tempted to sign up just so I can get knocked out like a bitch in the first round by Ralphis. It'll be a blast. :D

I'm looking forward to the tournament as it will surely bring more attention to the doom scene and introduce a lot of new players to classic doom. Further discussions regarding the doom tourney at this years QuakeCon can be found here and here btw (why was it not linked here from the start?). It is surely interesting for anyone that wants to know what the multiplayer doom scene is like and to get to know some of the players that plan to take part in the tourney.

One can still hope they're going to show off something about Doom 4 too :P

Technically speaking, it was at the very first QuakeCon in 1996.
