Nefarious bg tasks

I did a google search for macbook pro fan runs a lot and found this page:

So I opened Activity monitor and found this:



Killed the HP Product Research process and fans quieted down. Damn. so evil. I almost feel like a suit could be filed. Excessive wear on my computer, collecting information unawares about my activity or whatever they are "researching" and excessive energy use from this BS process.

Fuck, this thing is widespread? Idiot programmers. And no. Click "Sample Process" and you'll see a large block of text, where one of the first lines contains the process' executable path.
