How do the skull keys work?

Recommended Posts

Guys, the skull key technology of literal demon aliens is something that cannot be understood. What's even more perplexing is the fact that the literal alien demons from hell made their mystic skulls keys colorful like Skittles. These genetic hell mutations are definitely festive when you think about it.

This is FICTION. The definition of demons doesn't have to be that they are supernatural in fictionland.

But it allows it. They're supernatural entities, deal with it.

All physical matter is natural, be that demon, human or skull keys. Demons are just more likely to learn supernatural abilities than humans. Humans are usually too busy thinking and trying to understand.

If they're so supernatural than they wouldn't need rocket launchers and plasma cannons or cybernetic limbs for that matter. Nor would they need skull keys, why do demons in hell need to lock doors anyways? Are they hiding health potions from kleptomaniac imps?

Why would you use the elasticity of fiction just to restrict yourself to nonfiction-level constraints, effectively mitigating that very elasticity?

Woah, that's deep.

Anyway, maybe the skull keys are the skulls of the dead marines, painted then fitted with components of the regular keys.

Yep - Doom is science fiction with fantasy elements. In such a setting you can ignore pretty much any law of physics, nature or the criminal code that gets in the way of the narrative.

The definition of demons doesn't have to be that they are supernatural in fictionland.

Why not? You have demons that can -

  • Fly without any visible means of propulsion
  • Spawn other demons
  • Resurrect other demons
  • Walk on lava with no sign of ill-effects
  • Fire unlimited quantities of bullets/shells/rockets
  • Throw lightning and fireballs underwater
- most of which defy the laws of nature as we know them, so by definition are supernatural.

  • Throw lightning underwater

  • Shouldn't that kill everything in the water if it were realistic?
That would've been funny to see.
