ReFracture Posted April 26, 2014 Stroggos said:I used to be really heavily into thrash and heavy metal. Iron Maiden and Metallica's Ride the Lightning were definitely my favourite, as a bass player. But more recently I've been finding solace in stoner rock/metal. Things like Kyuss, Electric Wizard, Sleep and Red Fang. Black Sabbath and a lot of the heavier rock from the 70's is pretty stand-out as well. Led Zeppelin are probably the best band to have ever graced this earth. Some say the Beatles, The Stones or even The Who, for me it will always be Zeppelin in terms of musicianship they are unmatched. When the levee breaks. <3 Been jamming to Iron Maiden's Somewhere in Time recently. Had a 1980s night with a buddy last night. Yes that's vinyl. :D 0 Share this post Link to post
FreddBoy Posted April 26, 2014 Ahh, this thread has brought back some AWESOME memories... But it needs more Brocas Helm and Iced Earth! 0 Share this post Link to post
RUSH Posted April 28, 2014 Vinyl is the BEST! Over half my metal collection is on vinyl and the sound of digital just can't compare. Not to mention how much nicer the artwork looks when it's 10x larger. 0 Share this post Link to post

FreddBoy Posted April 29, 2014 Umm... He was having a 80's night with his friend, so it makes sense that you would play a (ridiculously hard) game from 1987 on a machine that's been around since 1985... But then that's just me. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kontra Kommando Posted April 29, 2014 I ordered these off the internet, and received them in the mail yesterday. 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't know if I believe that it sounds better than digital but put the two side by side and I couldn't guess which is which. To me it's just a really fun way to listen to music. I would like to get some more metal albums on vinyl. And yeah, artwork is awesome, especially when it is as detailed and crazy as Somewhere In Time's. 0 Share this post Link to post

Netherstorm Posted May 2, 2014 Some of the bands I listen to that fall into the metal genre: Soilwork, Sevendust, Celldweller (hybrid of metal and electronic, which would make it "industrial metal" but whatever), Blue Stahli (same deal as Celldweller, they work together too haha), Blood Stained Child. Here's a song from Soilwork that I'm addicted to currently: 0 Share this post Link to post

Doomkid Posted May 26, 2014 This whole thing is a work of art, a friend showed me it a few years back and damn, I love it: I used a simplified MIDI of it for map14 of DK_DM_2. I just can't get enough of this stuff, will check out all the songs/albums above when I can play it loud. I also love the newest Morbid Angel album. All of their stuff is good. Come at me! 0 Share this post Link to post

Looking forward to Rob Zombie, Battlecross, American Head Charge, Feed the Rhino, Monuments and others. Should be watching at least 20 bands in total. 0 Share this post Link to post
