Let's name Freedoom's levels!

Now that level names are autogenerated, it's trivial for us to change the names of Freedoom's levels. Let's come up with proper names for the levels instead of the current boring "MAP01" / "E1M1" names.

Rules:

  • You can suggest as many level names as you want.
  • If you're the author of a level, you get to decide the name.
  • Don't base your names on Doom's level names. We are not recreating Doom.
  • Please play through the level before deciding on a name.
  • As suggestions come in, I will add them to the list below. The person who came up with the name is listed in square brackets. If there's an asterisk, the author of the level named it.
  • If multiple people give conflicting suggestions then I'll choose one based on popular opinion or my own taste.

I say all of the levels should be movie quotes. One could be "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of Elderberries!"

An okay start, although I've left out "Enlisted Quarters" which was one of the original level names from the Doom Bible.

E1M7 looks more like a waste disposal center than E1M3 does and I don't get a "control center" vibe from E1M5.

I made up some names of my own for the ones you left out. We also need names for the episodes.

As it's your level, I'm glad you like it! I was just wandering around it and it reminded me of a castle or fortress, except one made by a modern, advanced military. Calling it just "Fortress" seemed boring so I was thinking along the lines of "[adjective] Fortress" but couldn't think of a good adjective to use. A fortress like these is probably just one of many, so I added a number to the end instead.

Just to be awkward I'm not keen on level names with the word "Centre" in because of the fact that you don't seem able to spell it correctly! :)

Neither of the two spellings is right or wrong really. Here in the states we switch the E and R around, much like how we take the U out of colour, etc.

I've learned to go with the American spelling for most things just for consistency.

Thanks, I will try to incorporate these new names soon.

One thing we haven't discussed yet is names for the Phase 1 episodes. The episode selection screen looks kind of weird (episode 1, 2, 3, double impact) so it would be good to have some suggestions for names for episodes 1-3.

I even think that "double impact" does not fit as an episode title at all. IIRC it reflects the fact the the whole epidode was made by two people in team-work, but doesn't actually say anything about its content or conception.
