New Doom trailer in Facebook page

Starting to worry about the soundtrack. The nod to D3's theme in particular because it's outdated, garbage aggro-rock, while the original compositions that aren't the dark ambient pieces resemble a mesquito guitar filtered through a shitty VST plug-in.

I enjoy plot in Doom3 and I would like to something on similar level in Doom4, just less cut-scenes for monster introduction and NPC talking - most stuff we can learn by exploring environment, watching echo holograms and reading stuff from computer screens. If there going to be any NPC characters there better be interesting ones like in RAGE plus totally skip-able. I say:
NO - PDA stuff You need pause game and read on other menu, or stop in one place to read 20 e-mails on PDA
NO - escort mission (or at least good one where other character can defend himself)
NO - lock player in room because NPC got long monologue to say
NO - long cut-scenes while playing level (short ones are acceptable between levels)

Honestly, with the way the story setup for this game looks, I'd prefer that there are no live NPCs except in video/echo recordings. From what we've heard and read, it seems the game starts after the invasion has struck and you're just there to clean up the mess and learn what went wrong, which suggests that everybody else is already dead.
Video recordings, echo recordings and a few well-written and interesting logs (y'know, shit actually happens in those logs that advance the plot significantly) or the like, all things you can ignore or skip could be the way to go.

Maybe the rare story cutscene once in a while, preferably short and entertaining to watch, not to mention skippable (just like Classic Doom's Text screens, like one to bookend a lengthy gameplay chapter).

The way it should be.

I hope they do the story the same way the first FEAR did its story. If you wanted to know more about the story, you could stop and listen to phone messages or download files from laptops. If you don't want to know more about the story, you can skip all that and just go on killing more bad guys. A good compromise if you ask me.

If I could decide I would love to have just a few NPC, characters that somehow survive, adapt or hide well, amount similar to Resurrection of Evil with 2-3 NPC that are important for story. And, yes, ability to skip and just continue to explore is great, as I said - no locked doors because somebody have some long talk to do.

Halo isn't the only FPS with a story. There have been FPS with stories since the 90s, only on PC.

And I'm not just talking something in a game manual. Dark Forces 2 had cutscenes, player character talking during gameplay.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love story at times. The original Deus Ex is one of my favorite video games of all time. I can handle story.

...just not in Doom. I don't want something like the new Wolfenstien or Halo or Far Cry 3 or any of those other story centric shooters. Doom is, and always should be, about combat. Even in Doom 3 it could be largely ignored if you didn't read the emails and such.

Worst part is, if you took out all the dumb Doom4 sprites, the maps look pretty decent.

E: I am informed that the maps are nothing to do with the dumb mod. Which makes sense since they're the only good part of it.

Right in the beginning, Doomguy slams a dead guy's head into a retinal scanner.
So cruel.

Why couldn't they just make the animation like this:
-Raises corpse to retinal scanner.
-Let it scan the eye.
-Throw it away (literally).

Maybe he's angry? I mean, I'd be pretty pissed off if I came to a base on Mars which is basically the marine's second home and found all my buddies dead. Maybe the guy who's head he slammed was his annoying boss?

You must be joking right? I was laughing at that moment))

Looked brutal to me too. The animations seemed a bit too swift to me, also the baron looks like it's got bad lighting on him or something. Before you see him pounce on u, pause the video and check it out. Same with the Conan video, I know it's around here somewhere. The games got really bad lighting in some moments. Just looks strange. Maybe nothe bright enough perhaps but upclose everything looks better

I was "oh shit!" I really liked it, but I think its exaggerated, and the scanner would need a few seconds to actually scan it... I loved it when the corpse slid off.
Makes me wonder what other "locked door key" scenes will be like.

It seems that being exaggerated is what new Doom is all about)) Besides I do really like that element of ass-holism in doom guy))

Not sure if this has been posted before,

But the whole video had uncommon bits.

1-instant Glory Kills (probably for the trailer
2-no HUD (could this be a toggleable option?)
3-one rocket kills the Hellknight (IDK why)

Also, was that screech/roar when the Hellknight was halfway in sawing, came from the Baron or Hellknight?

Anyway, I love the new lost soul shown,
and from what I saw I think it'll be like this:
Dormant-blue flames (shown in trailer)
Hostile-yellow flames.

And I think they ram you (they do have horns).

Everything you listed here comes under "for the trailer". Of course they're going to cut it to show the "interesting" bits. No HUD also falls into that. Having a hud showing for the trailer and seeing it constantly jump between different values would just be ugly.

Hiding the hud is an option is pretty much every id engine game. If it's not specifically in the menu, there's a console command for it.

Of course the glory kills were cut and pasted for the trailer. You can tell how pinky suddenly loses it's "carapace" when the player rips it's tooth off. Also, no ammo and health drops. And I'm pretty sure the hellknight that got hit by the rocket (that used gauss gun/plasma rifle sound) was about to stand back up, judging from its legs moving.

Everyone is hyped about the trailer, guess how will the final product look like, what if they cut the Finishers, double jumping ... etc ;) .

Do you really think they will cut major features from the game when it's only 3 months away? I mean they will probably cut back on the graphics so they can get this game running at 1080/60 100% of the time but thats about it

It would look rather shallow.
Seriously, all these additions really add depth to the game´s combat and overall gameplay, I don´t know why people complain about them.

God I hope not.
The recent campaign trailer is already a step down, graphics wise.
