MAP08 of PSX Doom (E1M8)

Heh, that figures. How would they even dare having that many awakened monsters at once in view, if they were not guaranteed not to last more than a split second anyway?

Eh, they managed to keep the mass teleport invasion in Suburbs relatively inact. Obviously not quite as busy as PC Doom II, but busy enough.

(Although it can still be considered too busy on PSX; use the BFG on this clusterfuck and watch your game crash!)

-When I get the same species to infight
-Watching a corpse slide across the edge of a lindef/flat
-Watching something fall to a large drop as is dies
-Managing to get a weaker tier enemy to kill a much stronger one
-Using rockets to make demons rocket jump (I've only done this with imps)
-Telefragging things

Well not doom but you can get monsters to infight stupid stuff in hexen with discs of repulsion. Got a serpent to infight with a stalagmite which was too silly to not laugh at.

Gibbing an Imp with a Berserk. I like it that it doesn't happen everytime, otherwise it wouldn't be special.

That's actually a very good point there.
Did the devs do this out of creativeness or laziness?

Well it's just the math of whether the Berzerk punch does enough damage to gib or not. The damage range of a Berzerk punch is just right so that you can gib imps, but only sometimes.

Edit: Beaten ^^^

I never checked out the code, but I assume it's dependent upon how many points of damage you go over a particular threshold. In the same way damage is random, within a certain range, gibbing is similarly random. Either that, or it might just be calculated the way pain chance is.

Imp has 60 HP. Berserk fist does random damage between 20 and 200 HP. Monster is gibbed when its health drops below the negative value of its start health within 1 hit. That's all to it. Examples:

60 HP + 200 damage = -140 HP, -140 < -60, Imp gets gibbed
60 HP + 100 damage = -40 HP, -40 >= -60, Imp doesn't get gibbed
60 HP + 40 damage = 20 HP, 20 HP + 100 damage = -80 HP, -80 < -60, Imp gets gibbed

When you've just come out of a major fight with several powerful monsters alive, and stand among the carnage with only the music of the level audible, admiring your handiwork.
After a long and arduous map, you open the door to the exit only to see one easily dispatched imp or demon.

Watching any unfortunate monster walk into E2M2's crushers.

Damn I forgot the crushers.
Watching anything get crushed makes me smile. Except the player of course.

Watching an imp claw a cyberdemon to death. It was on Doom II's Tricks and Traps map, the cyberdemon somehow got himself stuck in a door and the imp went to town on him.

I like when source assets are used in clever ways, like taking a familiar texture and working with it in a way that suggests something else.

Finishing Memento Mori Map 15 with a buddy of mine...

Relaxing and going through the level to make sure we've picked up EVERY LAST THING...

Then...

One of us looking at the other and saying...

Do YOU wanna get us to the Secret Level or should I?

And then...

Watching it.
