hmm a lot of those shotgunners just dawdled around and you ended up with lots of ammo... well, at least it forced you into a sniping stance which was teh point!

I do though wonder if there's anything I could add to make it more exciting for good players without making it impossible for myself

That was an awesome map. Really liked some of the visuals ideas like the those towers/silos in the background and the overall vegetation surrounding the main structure. Good atmosphere with the shadows and the black stars sky. Gameplay was also fun with plenty of hitscanners sniping you right of the bat but definitely enjoyable. More!

Fun map, yakfak. I found it hard to get away from the starting point, but once I was moving I was good to go.

dragonfly, that looks great! Most people attempting coloured lighting seem to go nuts but yours is subtle and good-looking

I found and then subsequently fell in love with a stone texture from Community Chest 4 textures, so I went and made these things. Then, I hit a roadblock because I didn't know what I would expect from the map, gameplay-wise, so I dropped the map altogether.

You must keep going BloodyAcid! This looks absolutely stunning. Love the scale, makes me feel so little as the doomguy and I like it. Interesting to think what kind of gameplay would be like.

Hi BloodyAcid, I really like that too!

If you're uncertain of where to take the map, then I think you should start by populating it with monsters like the gray ones from "Winter's fury" - you've already stuck to a strict regiment with the textures so I think it would be blatantly irrational to populate it with monsters "of all colors" as without monsters you've clearly had some concept in mind that looks great including the scale as somebody mentioned, so don't underestimate yourself. Continue to just have fun.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. I had troubling deciding between monster placement/amount vs exploration and actual "Doom"-ish gameplay. If it's too easy/lackluster/puzzle focused, I'm afraid that it'd be boring to slog through. (On the other hand, I don't think that the large scale architecture would fit well with hordes of demons).

I think I've decided on a more exploration "absorb the atmosphere" type of feel to the map. Hope to get something pushed out by the end of this summer :) I haven't looked at the license usage for Winter's Fury, but I played through a bit of it today, and really like the look and feel of some of the monsters. Thanks for that!
