GameArena Posted October 11, 2003 I'm currently working on a starship based map, it's mostly done in the style like in the screenshot, but I wanted to get some opinions on this corridoor (it has more vertices and sidedefs than the entire map01 of doom2, just in this corridoor). Fletcher` Posted October 11, 2003 [newproject]GA, I like it, but{/newproject] :P 0 Share this post Link to post
GameArena Posted October 11, 2003 LOL, looks like you're afraid to use the tags ;) . I'm not sure if it's going to be a new project or not, if I can get more mappers (who are good) it'll be new. Otherwise, I've talked to shaviro and he said RTC 3057 is in need of mappers. 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted October 11, 2003 You might want to scale those sloped textures on the side. Other than that, it looks quite nice ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Shaviro Posted October 11, 2003 Just remember to not release any projects using the RTC-3057 resources! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Sphagne Posted October 12, 2003 Have you seen my two resource wads for space themes? Here they are: Sin Weapon Pack & ZDoom Space Edition, If you like ripped resource from other games, they are for you! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Draconio Posted October 12, 2003 Visually, it looks good, but I'm a little worried that it looks like it has lots of little jutting out pieces that the player could get stuck on. I can't tell for sure. 0 Share this post Link to post
GameArena Posted October 12, 2003 As for the resources, thank you, I'll take a look at them. Hopefully you have some textures ;) , AcidStorm will be doing the weapons so there is no need to rip any of them. About all those points sticking out, the player can easily pass through. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dunbar Posted October 12, 2003 That is the best looking corridor I have ever seen. Now... how about we see a little more, eh? I can't wait to play it! 0 Share this post Link to post
ellmo Posted October 18, 2003 Oh... my... god... why I'm so freakin late? This corridor reminds me of playing System Shock 2, what you've done rocks completely, but I also second SlayeR's opinion -> SCALE! 0 Share this post Link to post
GameArena Posted October 19, 2003 This one is scaled, the shot isn't a very good angle and it's small: http://modarchive.gnlive.com/files/shot3.png 0 Share this post Link to post
toxicfluff Posted October 20, 2003 GameArena said:(it has more vertices and sidedefs than the entire map01 of doom2, just in this corridoor). URL: http://modarchive.gnlive.com/files/shot1.png It's a really nice looking corrider, but I suspect half of those vertices are swallowed up by the ultra-circular light fittings :) The scaled shot looks great. 0 Share this post Link to post
GameArena Posted October 21, 2003 You should of seen my power room I was working on, I was curious and copied just that room (which was rather small) to a blank wad and then checked its size, it was 300+ kb (which is massive for raw map data). But I almost went insane last night because I used Zennode on the map and for some reason it messed up all the values in the wad, so it was useless. Fortunetly I had everything else backed up, except that room (which was 6+ hours of work). When I get past the "trauma" I'll try to recreate the room and get a screen, I think everyone will be impressed. 0 Share this post Link to post

toxicfluff Posted November 6, 2003 Looks excellent, but I doubt it will play too well unless the player speed is greatly reduced - it's on a more tight and claustrophobic scale than the average Doom map. 0 Share this post Link to post
GameArena Posted November 6, 2003 There are some rather large rooms in progress too, but in this case the bigger they are, the longer they take to create. 0 Share this post Link to post
