Fenriswolf Posted April 8, 2009 Hello, I worked with XWE some time ago but forgot the most things... First, I know that you could add new things with a DECORATE script and a new sprite (or more)... As far as I know the DECORATE-script has to look like this: ACTOR Bush1 1007 { Game Heretic Radius 12 Height 32 States { Spawn: SHB2 A -1 Stop } } There is a transparente sprite called SHB2A0 in the Sprites-folder. Now i thought this had to work. But it doesnt. There are just those "!"-Signs on the map. What did i wrong? DECORATE, Transparency, Spritename...? No clue. The other problem I have is a really epic bug report everytime I open the edited wad with Doom Builder. Reisal Posted April 8, 2009 By those lump errors below, it looks like ZDoom/Skulltag/GZDoom was looking for the Doom2 texture patches. On the first thing, I really don't know to help you on that. Why should Skulltag try to load the Doom2 textures? 1) Well I don't know if anything is missing... That was my question :D I just can say what I have done: - A DECORATE lump with the script I posted in the first post in it. - A sprite as a GIF I made transparent and loaded into the sprites directony of the Wad So whats missing? 0 Share this post Link to post

And now I noticed something very weird: When I open the texture category in XWE and look at the textures, there are just (wrong palettet) Doom2 Textures in there! Gez Posted April 8, 2009 Are you sure DB is configured correctly? Also, use Slumped or XWE to check whether you do not have parasitic TEXTURE1 and/or TEXTURE2 lumps in your wad file. 0 Share this post Link to post

Well it looks like this: ZDoom (Heretic in Hexen Format) C:\Programme\Spiele\Skulltag\HERETIC.WAD Or do I have to choose another file? Gez Posted April 9, 2009 Well delete them. They're the ones responsible for this. Unless you define custom textures you shouldn't have TEXTUREx lumps in your wad anyway. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fenriswolf Posted April 10, 2009 ok, here it is: http://blackthyrion.bl.funpic.de/Silverspring.wad The WAD doesnt include any real levels so far, just one test room and some sprites. As you can see, the "Thing"-thing still doesn't work (Just those "!"... And there are no Texture-files in the WAD. Try to open it with the DB and see if you have this error message, too, please! EDIT: I changed some things and now the "Thing"-thing works in the normal map format but not in the ZDoom format. Because of the weird things with the loaded Doom2 textures I moved the Doom2 IWAD out of the folder, when I started XWE afterward there came up a window where I had to browse for the new location of the Doom2.wad... What should I do? EDIT2: I found a file called "PNAMES" in the Wad, no clue how it came in there but it seemed to be the cause of this problem cause after i deleted it there was no error message... The "lump error" thing belongs to history now ;) Just 2 Things remaining: - The DECORATE-things dont work with ZDOom (Heretic in Hexen format), but they do work in a normal Heretic map - (a new one): the map doesnt accept any MAPINFO file... Why should I change to the DOOM2.WADs new location if i never want to do anything with it? I just want to do some heretic wads, not Doom. So why does XWE want to know where Doom2 is? So why does XWE want to know where Doom2 is? Because it makes wrong assumptions. Try to use slumped instead, it doesn't do what it guesses you want but what you actually tell it to do. So you won't have issues such as Doom2's texture lumps inserted in your map... 0 Share this post Link to post
