Super Jamie Posted February 3, 2010 Is there any way to make DB2 setup bypass the installation of the .NET runtimes, and just install the base application? 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks for the tip. Visit http://www.ubuntu.com/ and http://www.winehq.org/ to find out why I might want to do this. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted March 27, 2010 Exactly my point. However, you can install .net in some capacity with the winetricks script. Now all I need is to be able to run the setup program! 0 Share this post Link to post
boris Posted March 27, 2010 Did you try to use one of the unofficial builds at http://svn.drdteam.org/doombuilder2/ ? They don't come with the installer. You'll probably also need to install SlimDX somehow. You should use the one that comes with DB2, I think it will not work with the latest from the SlimDX page. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted March 27, 2010 Excellent, I'll give that a go, thanks! 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted May 23, 2010 I finally got around to trying this. Better result than I expected, though not what I hoped for. Thanks anyway boris :) 0 Share this post Link to post
boris Posted May 23, 2010 So that's DB2 running on Wine? Looks like the most important part doesn't render ;( I wonder how well it would work with Mono, but then the SlimDX stuff probably needed to be rewritten. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted May 23, 2010 Yeah, that's DB2 r1250 in Wine 1.1.42 with .NET installed via winetricks as the MS installer package freezes. The SlimDX installer just works so no dramas there. I've run other Mono software (Jodwin's C# WAD Launcher) via Mono, though you are right, DB2 complains that the SlimDX library is missing. 0 Share this post Link to post
