22Alpha22 Posted March 29, 2010 Has anyone ever thought of making a Tomb Raider TC? It should be possible, given GZdoom and Zdoom's abilities. There would only need to be minor map changing, where shimying is concerned. It would be something new and different to play TR1 from a 1st person perspective. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted March 29, 2010 Have you played Doom Raider? That is a slightly older but no less impressive ZDoom map in the style of Tomb Raider. Of course gameplay is decidedly more like Doom than Tomb Raider, but only because Decorate and ACS were not yet at a point where they could support crazy stuff like wall jumping and shimmying on ledges. 0 Share this post Link to post
punnyone Posted March 29, 2010 Plutionia 2 map 21's opening room was apparently inspired by the 8th level of Tomb Raider 1 (The Cistern). I agree though, I'd love to see that game made in a doom setting. 0 Share this post Link to post

22Alpha22 Posted March 31, 2010 I did not know shimying and wall jumping was possible with a doom port. I am impressed. Then it would be possible to almost exactly recreate TR 1, 2, or maybe even 3. Although Eidos might not like it. 0 Share this post Link to post

Especially not now that Eidos is owned by Square Enix, who are usually pretty trigger-happy on the Cease-and-Desist button. 0 Share this post Link to post
22Alpha22 Posted March 31, 2010 Thats too bad, it would have probably have been a fun project. Although this has got me thinking that, with GZdoom's capabilities, it would probably be possible to recreate most 90's games and early 2000's. 0 Share this post Link to post
