however I downloaded a wad named x10 monsters and it returns something like "decorate parser blah blah error"

Get the new one from here. It's universal and works with everything. Also, use a dev build.

He means the most recent beta version (not stable, but should work ffs).

Oh and next time use the following thread for WAD requests. ;)
