    NewDoom website/community

what happened to NewDoom? I swore I remember the website name correctly.... or was it called something else? It's like the whole community never existed?? Hmm, the only last working wayback archive is: http://web.archive.org/web/20150211235601/http://www.newdoom.com/ Damn... all these old Doom-engine community websites disappearing... first hexen/heretic.... now Doom
  2. Does anyone know of a good Doom WAD database with advanced/extensive search/filter options... and maybe browse by overview map layout? I know there are plenty of WAD DBs out there, but a lot of them are just not extensive searchable enough. I am looking for a Doom 2 deathmatch WAD, which has a BFG in the middle on a small pillar, large room.. .and the room is surrounded by a corridors. The filename was called fukmybfg.wad I've been googling this for the past 7 years and still no google matches at all!!! So it could've been renamed....

    HELP: WAD DB extensive search

Thanks guys for the reply! (hmm, I thought I had email notification on - otherwise would've seen this sooner). Still no luck, can't find, not even that one you suggested, but good try.... Will still try and find... maybe even recreate it from memory.
  4. It's common that DOS games have keyboard and some use both keyboard & mouse to play the game. But ShadowCaster seems to only be controlled by mouse - for being a FPS first-person shooter, this is quite tiresome. Anyone know how I can play with keyboard?
  5. Would talking about the Ravensoft games such as ShadowCaster be Doom-related for this forum?

    DOOM HD Project

I think the models look absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to see them being animated. Actually, you should do some small animations (like what they do to promote Team Fortress 2).
  8. Why does NewDoom.com now redirect to the RavenGames Facebook group? UPDATE: You can see the active forums on wayback machine (18th December 2014): http://web.archive.org/web/20141218102951/http://forums.newdoom.com/ regardless of the non-updates to the news front page. R.I.P. NewDoom, sister of DoomWorld.

  14. There's a couple of Doom 2 levels where we cannot get 100% secrets because John Romero placed the secret in a teleporter sector (and the player would never be able to enter the sector without being teleported). 15: Industrial Zone 27: Monster Condo Any others? There's one level I can get 100% items but only 92% kills is 29: The Living End. I just cannot find any more monsters. Is this a bug or normal? Does anyone else get this?

    Doom2 - 29: The Living End

Hey guys, just to let you know I found my 3 lost missing monsters. It was the 3 imps up in the hard-to-see outside area where the archville protects the switch that opens the pink (tougher) hell knight who protects the teleporter to the final middle mountain (map 29). Yes, they were hidden away but I found them. They don't see me and I had to shoot thin air and then they responded.

    Doom2 - 29: The Living End

Playing PSP port... and no cheats
  17. I never managed to complete Doom 2 back in the ol' days. Luckily for the PSP port am able to play it while on the move (eg. commuting, etc). I respect due to limitations of the 3D engine, one have to use their own imagination to see the transforming doom world (not the website). Am confused with level 20: Gotcha! It's got the cyber-demon & mastermind dancing together on podiums. I thought we killed them at the end of episode 2 & 3 of Doom 1? Or are they not special unique monsters anymore? What are they doing there standing on podiums and can't get off... looking helpless? Anyway, the end of level 20 is the first appearance of the literally drop-in portal exit. Where do we go? What is this world we are in? I thought we were on earth?

  20. According to Wikipedia's Hexen page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexen#Expansion_pack) it says Death Kings expansion features "a couple of deathmatch levels". 1. Does anyone know which MAP## numbers they are? or what they are called so I can load them up...
  21. Skulltag & eventually ZDaemon are good in that it's making Doom/Heretic/Hexen deathmatching over the internet easily accessible. I was just talking about Hexen's DM. Hexen's levels are linked to several other levels ... and it's impossible to finish one level without flipping switches or collecting keys in another level. So yes, when you change levels, all players teleport to the next level... and you are allowed to visit the previous level... however the switches/keys are reset....
  22. Cheers guys. The Hexen community is not taking off. I think it's because the hubs keep on getting reset everytime you jump from one level to another rather than being persistent. You never can progress through the levels from MAP01 because the seven portals hub can't be completed properly due to level resets on portal jumps.
  23. Anyone know of a Doom/Doom2/Heretic/Hexen tournament ladder? Something that also does 1-on-1. It would be cool if there was like a Triathlon...
  24. andwan0

    Triathlon: tournament ladder

There's not a centralised or major big tournament ladder, but smaller tournaments run/managed by the sourceport people: eg. ZDaemon's Tournament Forums http://forums.zdaemon.org/index.php?c=8 Skulltag's Competition Forums http://skulltag.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=106 Mostly do CTF or some specialised mod. Haven't seen any 1 on 1, FFA or TDM ladder tournaments... and it's mainly Doom... haven't seen any Heretic or Hexen ladder/tournaments. Hexen Death Kings has specialised deatmatch levels that would be nice to try out...
  25. I've been following the official Hexen walkthrough at http://www.raven-games.com/hxwalk/e2solve.php#swamp_1 I need desperate help in Hexen, 2nd episode/level (Dark Mere, Haunted Woods, etc. hub). I got all keys (Swamp, Horny, & Cave). And I've unlocked 5 of the 6 switches. The last switch I cannot get to is: Caves of Circe (getting the Cave Key)... and it uses the Swamp key (see above URL) I have been through ALL the caves and killed all the monsters... but cannot get to the upper cave with the TOP of the fast moving river/waterfall. I check the map and found the entrace... but it's blocked! :( help!!!! - I really don't want to use noclip to cheat...
