  1. I was flicking through youtube and I came across this and decided to give it a watch, I've past it a few times as I had never heard of the category before but I became quite curious on what this category would entail: Yep, my curiosity was correct, a category which relies on the items tally. UV Collector: "Player must collect all the weapons in a level and exit as quick as possible". Not a 100% accurate quote, but that's the gist from this category. The Czech community came up with this category and it, to me, seems like quite a good category. Only problem with this is that it doesn't rely on the item tally being 100% so in order to have it marked as a legitimate run I can see that a lot of people would need to know the weapon count on the map in order to class it as a successful run, and I can see a lot of maps getting optimal times fast if it relies solely on the collection of weapons. but I just want to see some view points on this. Why do you think that the item tally is often neglected in speed running? Do you think it would be interesting to have a new category that relies on getting 100% items? Sort of like a NM100I? (well, just a name suggestion but I think you get what I mean). It would be interesting to read some thoughts on this but I personally think that a category that involves the item tally would make for some quite interesting speed runs. What's your personal opinion on this?
  2. FDAs for E2M1 and E2M2 recorded under -complevel 3 (I just realised you wanted nine, though, sorry) in PrBoom plus. I died due to mass stupidity in E2M2 so it would have been shorter but it's late in Britland. I'll see to getting some more done as the nostalgia is making me horny. The good: - This is pretty nostalgic for me, part of E2M1 reminds me of a previous level I have played before as with E2M2 although E2M2 seemed to stick out more with me (the chainsaw secret being an example as well as other shit). - That palette is on par with Kate Upton. The bad (not much really): - I have never been a big fan of lost souls but I wouldn't complain if the amount there was still left in. - My playing is god awful in E2M2 but you don't have to worry about that. (Be prepared for 20 odd minutes of your life gone). All in all; it's a set by one of my all time favourite mappers and it's for TUD so I cannot complain. Cheers, fella.

A live action Mega Man movie is in the works...

It best involve the blowing up of an oil rig, too as well as being directed by him and increasing the ego ten-fold.

    Failed demo attempts

I find linedef skips always happen to me when I want to go through a teleporter, yet they never occur when I need them to. You notice it in a few demos people not being able to teleport at times.
  5. Malcolm Sailor's Chord series (bite sized maps with very clever game play), Death Destiny maps, most Time of Death and gggmork maps. I would also recommend most of the maps in the thread that Sci pointed out.

    Requiem demos [-complevel 2]

I'll be eagerly awaiting the improvement. Regarding AV, that episode's a bitch to run, even in UV speed. I got up to around map 04 in my last attempt at a D2EP1 run (I was stupid enough to grab the mega armour). I'll probably try it again, though. Any tips for surviving a full episode run? I seem to die quite easily in them.

    Mutiny [Community Project]

Those texture updates look fucking ace. Still none the wiser as to what's happening with the team though.

New Iron Maiden album, bitch cakes. Released yesterday, placed an order for deluxe edition for just over a tenner. It even has a song that's longer than RotAM clocking in at a healthy 18 minutes. Upon hearing that last bit of information from a colleague yesterday (despite finding their previous album to be average) I needed it. Fact: This is their first double album, sunshine.

    20 Years of PlayStation Doom.

Well what the fuck can I say? This is the port that laid down the foundation of gaming for me way back in 1997, (it was one of the first, if not the first) game I ever played), when I first met my step-dad. I used to spend practically every minute of the day paying it and loved the ever loving shit out of that port. I must say though that when I first played the PC Doom I felt a little disappointed due to the lack of coloured lighting and thinking that the sounds were completely down graded. The soundtrack of the first few levels (especially Map 01, 03 and Limbo) have remained right in the back of my head for god knows how many years. I'll have to whip out my copy and slam it in the PS2 again just to relive those days.

    Old Doom music

Very nice, I never realised that Requiem had some unused midis, there are some right gems in here. Also, it's nice to finally have one of the composers of the Icarus soundtrack around these parts so thanks for sharing, sunshine.
  11. Nice, my son. I may contribute a map as it will probably give me a chance to brush up on some old ssssshiiiit. Such as this down here. All it really needs is some widening (it's a tight play duel map), texture fix ups and replacements.

    Wes Craven dead at 76

Holy fuck! R.I.P Wes. A truly iconic director. I may have to re-watch Scream at some point this weekend in honour of his memory.

I Wanna Marry Windows 10 Now

Any Windows 10 user still experiencing VPN issues? I don't seem to get the tray icon yet when I checked the support page my whole set up matched has anyone else experienced that?
  14. Nice! I'll have to check this later the text file includes some background, too so I hope that gave some insight. Also, mine's not to be uploaded to DSDA I forgot to mention in the text. I may make this an official "post your collector demos thread".

    Nomonster speedrunning

Heh, I'll have to check these on Monday I have only ever managed to successfully glide twice (both on TV! Maps) but never managed to pull it off elsewhere. Also, welcome to the demos section, Jimi .
  16. Sorry for the double post and bump but I stumbled across the UV Collector again and decided to make a demonstration demo as to what one is, demo plays under map 01 of TNT -complevel 4. I actually took the time to read the video description and it says that it was strictly a -nomonsters category demo. While I am here, I also found a bunch of old Czech-N UV Collector demos. Along with some speedster(?) demos, I am assuming that the latter is the speed fighter category? For those who don't know speed fighter is where you get as many kills as possible with an exit under par time. ec01-034.zip

The Metal / Rock Music Fans

The above post got me so amped that I decided to give you guys a personal fuck you from BRITLAND, pure NWOBHM at its finest. I couldn't find a good quality version of Enforcer, sadly. Although it's worth picking up a remaster. Also, the Satan "spin-off bands"; Pariah and Blind Fury I remember being brilliant.
  18. Can't say no to new Hock runs. I'll have to watch that one later. I hope he gets round to finishing it as he was active still a little while back. I have always been interested in built runs but I am not sure how you go about them (especially XDRE 2).

Nostril Caverns (my bizarre one-man band)

I post there as Neurosphere I have a review of Carcass' first album on there, somewhere. I also had a few reviews I needed to brush up on. Also, download for free? As nice as that is the material seems good enough to pay for so I would rather do that. Do you post physical copies to England? If so, how much for P&P?

    So the Ashley Madison leak...

Well, shit it looks like I'll have to sign up elsewhere... On a serious note, I'm with DK on this one. You have to be a real pathetic excuse for a human being to throw away something special. Yes, it is a shame that card details were unmasked but I am glad those vile beings got ousted as the uncommitted scum that they are. If you can't keep your cock in your pants when the honey hits town then you shouldn't even be in a relationship.
  21. In terms of DM; yes. Game play always comes first every single time. Ever wondered why Gothic DM is considered one of the worst DM wads? They focused on making it more of a wank fest than focusing on the number one element. For single player I would say that visuals are just as important but I would still vote game play over visuals Hell core is a good example of a level set that fails drastically as a playable level set. Yes it looks amazing but the game play is shocking. Doom is a video game, you play it, not roll your foreskin up and down over it.

How did you get your avatar subtitle?

I don't have a custom title because I don't post enough shit to get one.

I think we're still waiting for SF3 to come out before attempting this one.

The DooMed Speed Demos Archive returns!

Yeah, it's definitely worth mentioning as I highly doubt whether Opulent will make a return to maintain it after. Though I should imagine someone high up in the speedrun community like vdgg would probably end up taking over.

    Prboom+ compatible total conversions

Hacx is an amazing TC which I believe should work. Also, try Batman Doom and the original Aliens TC (very outdated, mind you). For PC's the best one's that I have played would be STRAIN (hugely underrated in modern times) and Obituary. Please note that V1.2 of Hacx is the one that you will require and it works in PrBoom + because I recorded a few demos for it but future versions will be ZDoom exclusive.
