How would you have designed TAG2's final boss differently? [spoilers]
Castle Dreadful replied to I Drink Lava's topic in Doom Eternal
Get him out of the suit and add some verticality to the damn arena. -
The Ancient Gods 2 - Impressions and Story Spoilers
Castle Dreadful replied to AtimZarr1's topic in Doom Eternal
The story bothers me. If you are going to have one, be consistent with it. Doom 2016, Eternal base campaign, Ancient Gods part 1, and part 2, are hilariously out of sync with one another. It's like they didn't even bother thinking of continuity. It's so blatant that I am almost convinced that it is satire. -
Would DE have been better without reactionary enemies?
Castle Dreadful replied to Potatoguy's topic in Doom Eternal
Dark Lord shouldn't have been a reactionary boss but I don't have a problem with the Marauders and Gladiator. My big issue is the introduction of enemies that require one specific method of killing them. Stone imps, spirits, and to a lesser extent riot soldiers and cursed prowler. Spirits especially. Immune to falter and freeze, and you must use the microwave to kill the ghost form. They couldn't find a way to balance lesser mods so they force you to use them in the laziest design they could find. It disturbs the gameplay loop, in my opinion. Especially on console where I play. I gotta either memorize the spawns and have the weapon on queue, or fumble around with the weapon wheel mid combat and then fumble around with mod switching. And the spirit being arbitrarily resistant to certain weapons on top of it is just lazy ass design. -
The Ancient Gods - Trailer and Release Date
Castle Dreadful replied to AtimZarr1's topic in Doom Eternal
It's extremely intense so far. I had to turn it down a notch because I am very rusty and they throw a hell of a lot more dicey situations at you. I'm loving it so far. Nothing in vanilla Eternal really measures up to some of the encounters here. -
What was your first DOOM experience?
Castle Dreadful replied to Castle Dreadful's topic in Doom General Discussion
I am sorry, guys. I realize that I used poor phrasing in my search and recreated a tired thread. I just replayed DOOM and DOOM II and was so stoked on it that I didn't search well enough and made a mistake. My bad. I searched "doom age." lol not very thorough. -
I apologize if this has been posted before. I did a search and didn't see anything. How old were you when you first played DOOM? How did you come across it? I was 3 years old when DOOM first came out. I lived with my mother and grandparents at the time. My grandfather had a den and he set me up with my own computer next to his with a LAN connection. DOOM was my first ever video game. Gramps and I played DOOM, Warcraft, Red Alert, and Descent together in that den and that was what made me a gamer. Yes, they introduced a 3 year old to DOOM. Censorship is not a belief in this family.

Mick Gordon unlikely to work on another Doom game after Eternal’s OST release
Castle Dreadful replied to Man of Doom's topic in Doom Eternal
Hire Meshuggah and the keyboardist from Fear Factory's Obsolete days. Mick absolutely pulled inspiration from these two. -
Was Doom 2016 Better Than Doom Eternal?
Castle Dreadful replied to Foebane72's topic in Doom Eternal
I honestly love them both. They both are still great. I love the brutality that both offered and how they went about blazing a different path. Doom was the first game I EVER played. To see it revived gives me such joy. I hope that they keep going. -
What mod would you like to see/create for Doom Eternal if it had mod support?
Castle Dreadful replied to BarabaszEnthusiast's topic in Doom Eternal
Doom 2 the way id did: Eternal. Sunder, somehow. -
If I was the Icon of Sin, I would have just walked away after losing 3 armor plates. Go surfing or something while spacetime collapsed around me. The Slayer ain't catching up.
-
I despise Urdak. ARC Complex is my favorite but the Super Gore Nest through Sentinel Prime run is my favorite part of the game.

The Marauder didn't seem that bad to me after following the directions
Castle Dreadful replied to Linguica's topic in Doom Eternal
Kill all the heavies first, then lure him away from the fodder. Line him up in your sights at range, dodge his axe throws, and he'll charge you with his axe. Ballista SSG Ballista him. -
Your age and difficulty setting when or if you completed Doom Eternal?
Castle Dreadful replied to Foebane72's topic in Doom Eternal
29. Ultra Violence on XBox one. Two playthroughs. Did extra life challenge with one mod and suit for the achievements. Started an Ultra Violence extra life mode this morning. SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS: First playthrough I had to go sentinel armor for Gladiator and Khan Maykr. One shot the Icon of Sin though. Weird. But second playthrough, I didn't trigger the sentinel armor. Finished with 20 lives or something.
