LOL, finally someone recognizes it! I actually only ever watched it sober. Waking Life and Samsara are two of my favorite acid movies. Also watched the beginning of Inglorious Basterds on 3 tabs which wasn't such a good idea lol -
It is already. The performance is definitely better with it on.

I'm playing DSDA on Software mode and it usually runs very well. However in certain areas I get somewhat significant or at least noticeable drops in FPS (e.g. up close to certain textures or in areas with a lot of light variance, I go from 80 to 60-35 fps). So okay, not horrible but disappointing and I had hoped my hardware could handle it. I was surprised, then, that when I alt-tabbed out of and then back in to the game that my fps jumped to 120 and it ran faster in the areas that were giving me trouble. Alt-tabbing on software mode seems to cause a problem getting back into the game, but I noticed that just changing the rendering from software to GL back to software gets rid of the fps drop on whatever I'm looking at. And THEN I noticed that I didn't even have to change the renderer! I could just hit enter over the option and then enter again and my frames would jump up. So what is going on? Why can't I just get high fps consistently? I feel crazy or stupid but I have tried this over and over again and it works every time.

No dice -- same issue, and I played around with different variations. E: Actually, you know what? Although I am still having the issue to some extent the overall game seems to run more smoothly.

My favorite restaurant in college made an Indian meal called navratan korma which was delicious. It means "9 Gem Curry" or something similar, and it's made with coconut milk, spices, nuts, and vegetables (not totally unlike other Indian foods in general, but this was soo good). Especially because I don't eat meat I was happy to find something so rich and delicious that I could eat. I've tried making some myself and I order it wherever I see it but I've never had it as good at Letts Eat made it. (I went there 3-4 times a week after classes and I also weighed over 300 pounds... curiously after the restaurant closed I got down to 210... coincidence? :) ) Here's a picture of someone else's korma just for an idea of it:

I'll get my specs/config as soon as I get home from work today, so gimme around 8 hours. I am on Windows though.

Not sure how many hours I have spent during trippy afternoons (and mornings and evenings) laughing my ass off or being totally mesmerized by YouTube... but it's been a fairly significant portion of my 20's so far. -
There's something about classic Doom that I love.
Bubbabooie replied to Denzel20's topic in Doom General
That "ordinary guy" aspect always appealed to me. Even though Doomguy runs like a Mazda the game still feels like you're just a dude fighting Hell, because so many enemies can put such a hurting on you so quickly. My favorite Doom feeling is a scrappy, fighting tooth-and-nail for my life kind of anxiety that I don't get from many other games. And the 90's aesthetic is a huge draw too :) -
have you ever cried while playing doom?
Bubbabooie replied to elborbahquarama's topic in Doom General
Unbelievable -- I had to look up the map number but I also cried on this map, on mushrooms, but for different reasons. My father was dying of pancreatic cancer the first time I played this map which must've been 3 years ago or so now. The map's desert aesthetic reminded me of Nevada, Arizona, those places out west to which my dad often drove during his job as a truck driver. (He actually had a master's degree in electrical engineering and was one of the smartest people I've known.) Anyway that map's title, Dare to Fly Where Eagle's Soar, its music, and its environment all hit me in the gut with heavy realization. DOOM95 was on a shareware floppy at my house as a kid and I literally cried in fear when my dad played it, and eventually when I got braver he would sit down and watch me play until I was too scared. Now I was helping him up the stairs he was too weak to walk up and changing him and administering his meds. And I could never go back to that time when he could beat all the things I was too scared of. I loved him and still miss him and probably always will. When I play now I think back on those days a lot and the memory hurts less. I'm glad I have it. -
B L E A K [MBF21, 3+1 Maps]
Bubbabooie replied to Treehouseminis's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I'm partly through map02 (157 kills in) and I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this so far. The atmosphere is great (is the title screen a Zdzisław Beksiński piece?). I realized that for the first time since I was a kid, I hesitated with trepidation to lower the lift I was on because I was scared, like actually uneasy, about what I was going down into. Besides that the maps are handsome designed with a lot of dread-inducing architecture and the combat is fun, cramped, and at times, shocking, e.g. my utter disbelief at the number and location of the revenants you're putting in the room with me. I'm UV pistol start/no saves and map one took me 3 tries over 2 days but it was never frustrating. Map02, I guess difficulty remains to be seen, but so far I've been having a blast. -
I frequently have Doom and Halo dreams. Literally just playing videogames in my head while I sleep lol

[cl9] [/idgames] Black Diamond
Bubbabooie replied to suzerduzer's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I'm stuck on map05, but I want to say I really enjoyed this. Pistol start/no saves highlighted some surprising traps that made me gasp out loud. The maps look gorgeous to boot. Nice set! -
Grime - 5 maps oozing urban decay!
Bubbabooie replied to EduardoAndFriends's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Wow, blasted through this one, compared to how long RELIC.wad took me. Took just under an hour. I really like the way you use Pain Elementals and Demons, especially Specters. Your secret design is also satisfying. I almost always see the secret item, as opposed to stumbling on to a fake wall -- which you also do have, but I like when I can see a Soul Sphere and drive myself crazy trying to get at it. -
Relic - 4 adventurous maps with devious traps in the jungle!
Bubbabooie replied to EduardoAndFriends's topic in WAD Releases & Development
The combat is a lot of fun (UV pistol start) and the maps feel good to run through. There were a lot of really good rocket launcher moments too, lots of ammo and squishy mobs lol. Some of the traps were devious, and I played the last map probably 8 times til I got it. Very good-looking, fun piece of work. -
Elysium's Curse Episode 1 (MBF21 wad)
Bubbabooie replied to Bri's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Just beat it on UV pistol start and found it challenging and well-designed, with a lot of focus on fast-paced gameplay using the chaingun and shotgun. The architecture and lighting are handsome. Nice WAD -

Music that puts you into a good feeling you can't describe?
Bubbabooie replied to Artman2004's topic in Everything Else
Love this song. Has a great summer feel to me, and is kind of strange sounding, sound like an experience of wonder. Only one other person I've shown it to likes it... And one from my favorite band -- My Old School by Steely Dan. I've been listening to them since I was 10 years old when my mom played her CDs outside by the fire. So it's just good memories for me and the song kicks ass regardless of all that -

Category: 1 Difficulty: UV Died on: Map02 Kills: 1 Time of death: 21:58 After a high-octane start I'm really disappointed by my dumbass manner of death. Liked the wad though. ie_adonis_Bubbabooie.zip -
Ahh damn. Well, I'll retry and attempt to fix my gameplay mistakes as well. Thanks.

Crumpets map 07 UV-Max in 3:30. First speedrun I've ever done, and there's a false start that lasts about 20 seconds. cr07m330.zip

My favorite beers are IPAs by Stone Brewery and Troegs (I don't if Troegs are known outside Pennsylvania) and whiskey. Nikka Coffey Malt is like $75 a bottle so I'm always afraid to drink any but damn it's good!

Phantasm was great. I really loved It Followed. Some others listed here I like were The Shining, The Fog, The Witch, and The Wailing. Zombie was listed here too; The Beyond was another great 70s Italian horror movie. It Comes at Night was dreadful (dread-filled) and brutal.

Doomworld Halloween 2021 w/ Billy Baron

Blackwood is great! Clark Ashton Smith is another good author in a similar vein. Here are two good spooky ones for anyone interested: The Tale of Satampra Zeiros by Clark Ashton Smith The Willows by Algernon Blackwood
