Don't get wintex get XWE.It does so much more.Doom builder is the best map editor out there if you can run it
-
For those of you who don't have rar,try the freeware app ICEOWS.It can open but can't create rars.Rar makes zip files look ugly.
-
Yes that's exactly the type of thing I was looking for, thank you.

Damn I'm on dial up and this will take me all night to download. Oh well, judging from the demo it will be worth every secound of it.

Yes rtc is godlike, my favorite doom levels are dark7 and the torment&torture series(esp,2&3).Both only play in zdoom and there's links in the zdoom wiki.I also like strain and the rebirth.

I meant boom maps like the kind that will run in prboom. And multilevel or single level it doesn't matter, just not megawads I have just about all of those ;) Yeah zdoom has a whole slew of great maps. But I can't use zdoom in linux...yet
-
Can anyone recomend some good boom compatible wads for single player?
-
I've played silent hill 1 & 2,both are good game's.Seriously, what do you think people are going to say when you compare some survival horror game to doom on a site named doomworld.
-
All jokes aside, I don't think anyone knows were you live and can provide you with that information. Also your in the classic doom forum. You might get a better response in the doom 3 section.

nvidia.com I heard that nvidia will give you one for free,if you can prove that you jumped off a 9 story building without the aid of some kind of safety device.
-
Console games are mostly shit, imo.Sure silent hill had those crazy zombie orgies. But after you beat it no new levels and no multiplayer.Another thing is that games with a bunch of story, tend to lose their charm once you play through the thing the first time.

I think playstation had a moving sky in one of the final doom levels.

I was in a simialar position as you about a year ago,and perhaps I can help you get started. you only need two things to play doom : a source port: doom legacy, zdaemon, zdoom, prboom, eternity engine, jdoom, vavoom, boom, glboom, skulltag, zdoomgl all of these are free. a iwad: doom.wad,doom1.wad,doom2.wad,tnt.wad,plutonia.wad,freedom.wad if your using windows xp it might not have .wad at the end ok so what you want to do is download a source port,I would suggest doom legacy if your kind of new to computers and don't know how to use the command line.It also has very good documentation and is very easy to use.jdoom and vavoom are also very easy to use. then make a folder put doom legacy(or another source port) in there and doom2.wad(or any of the others listed in iwads) then run legacy or whatever this includes most of the ports and also a launcher for them all it's worth a look as long as your not on dial-up ;): http://kingdoom.de.vu/ each of the source ports have different features, jdoom tends to focus on graphics while zdoom adds a whole slew of new things that previously were not possible.Just remember to give each source port a look before thinking it sucks. Most people who have been around for a while, prefer zdoom because pound for pound it has the most features.

I was just kinda looking at stuff, and I ran into this, its called "dumb" : http://samba.anu.edu.au/dumb/about.html so far it's seems to be only for linux.I was thinking maybe doomworld could put this up on their source port section.I would be willing to ask the guy who makes it if it's ok. [EDIT]:God DAmnit! I can't download it.And the email link is bunk too.
