    Nugget Doom 3.0.0 (updated March 17th, '24)

I haven't used DSDA-Doom, but if that has a launcher built-in as well then that's another option for sure. I figure all source ports should have their own launchers if possible, just a minimal one. Edit: Ah I see it's a separate application. That one seems a lot more complex than what I'm referring to. Most people don't need much more than being able to select an IWAD and/or PWAD prior to starting up.

I believe LZDoom has that feature actually, although it's been a while since I last tried it. Even borrowing it's code to do that would be great if it's possible, as it would be a very useful QOL update.

    Nugget Doom 3.0.0 (updated March 17th, '24)

Awesome, I really can't wait to try it out. On a separate note however, would it be possible to give Nugget Doom a rudimentary launcher GUI that allows you to select an IWAD and PWAD from your directory and then launch it?. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just enough so that a separate program wouldn't be needed for most people.
  4. If I cared about Activision or it's games I would probably be upset by this, but I couldn't care less honestly. Microsoft and Activision are two of the worst corporations on Earth, they belong together and I hope they fall together too.

Any chance Nugget Doom will get OpenAL support?. I came across this particular video and I really like how Doom sounds with more spatial audio, seems like it would be a nice feature.

Ashes 2063 - GZDOOM Total Conversion

I have played Ad Mortem and Urban Crusade. The former is very impressive looking, complete with custom weapons and animations. In fact it's why Ashes came to my mind.

Does Nugget Doom support Wayland on Linux?. Thought I'd migrate away from Xorg as a lot of the programs I use don't need it anymore, but it seems as though Nugget Doom is reliant on it.

Ashes 2063 - GZDOOM Total Conversion

If you put it that way, it might be harder than I thought. I've only played through Ashes 2063 at this time, but from what I remember playing a few months back it doesn't seem all that complex. I ask this because I had a good time with that game and would like to experience the rest of the saga without having to use GZDoom. Perhaps the author could consider a mini-wad of sorts, made using the MBF21 format as a test?.

Any chance the Ashes series will be converted to MBF21?. I'd love to try this on Nugget Doom!.

    Magier : Zauberer Continuation Idea

Yet it is illegal to do so. Hexen is a copyrighted work, produced for-profit and owned by a corporation. What projects like Freedoom and Blasphemer are trying to do is create a new IWAD with 100% Free (as in Freedom) assets. You can take any sprite or level in either game and do whatever you want with it, as they are licensed permissively under the BSD. This effectively frees you from having to secure a paid copy of Doom or Heretic if you want to play fan made content, or having to worry about any kind of legal restriction in the future. "Just download the actual game dood!" isn't really a valid argument. Projects like these do so much more than just offering a free game for download. But after bumping the thread, I was also wondering if any updates have been made for this fork?. I am definitely interested in playing a Free version of Hexen.

    Nugget Doom 3.0.0 (updated March 17th, '24)

Figures a new version would be released just a few hours after I harped on it haha. I gave this new version a try and, for some reason, I find it to be the best way to play Doom. I don't know what happened, maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me before, but Nugget Doom plays supremely well now and I like all the new options presented here. I suppose Nugget is now my favorite source port of them all!. I take it back, maybe Woof should merge with this ;)

Why won't Nugget Doom simply merge with Woof?, from what I can tell these are pretty minor additions that could just as easily be a part of the Woof project. If there's one thing Doom doesn't need, it's yet another fork. (Not to insult the author, these are nice additions to be sure)

    Chocolate Doom

I'm not sure why it even needs so many commits and updates, it pretty much finished what it set out to do. If it has minimal, clean code and is highly portable it doesn't need any additions. Any more updates and you might as well call it "Chocolate with Sprinkles Doom".

    Crispy Doom is still awesome

I really like Crispy Doom because of it's simplicity and great set of features, even after managing to install Woof! I was quickly taken aback by it's bevvy of customization options. Fine for those who need them, but I'm not one of those people. I'm a humble gamer and I really don't know the differences between Boom, MBF, MBF21, level paramaters, DSDA-Doom vs Woof vs prBoom+, etc. I also think "update culture" is hurting the Doom community more than it's helping. It's why GZDoom ultimately became a bloated mess. Feature creep and the desire to CONSOOM new updates just for the sake of having them, and regardless of how badly performance tanked and how unruly that engine became. I like projects that are feature complete and more set-in-stone. It affords consistency, and less wasted effort. I also think there are too many ports that do similar things, like the ones I mention earlier.
