Comparison of Chain Gun, Plasma Rifle

The chaingun is probably my favorite weapon. The feel of it rocks, and I think versus fleshy targets, like..not lost souls, it's the weapon to use. Next time I play through doom 3 I am going to find an infinite ammo cheat and just run through rambo style with the chaingun! (I did not cheat first time I beat it--it's pretty damn easy)

What is your favorite D3 creature?

when I first saw it I thought it was a mohawk lol. Those dark corners kind of make it hard to see what things are =).

    SNES Doom mod

The snes doom was the first doom I played. I am very nostalgic about it and remember spending hours on UV trying to beat inferno. That Hallway with the pinkies was awesome in the first level. That being said, I am amazed at the amount of effort you guys put into this. I read through this entire thread from sheer curiosity, I had no idea people were still modding original doom.

    Dissapointing Demons

I was dissapointed with the pinkies and cacodemons. The pinkies were never present later in the game and almost all the situations they were present in they were no real threat. Throw five pinkies at us so we are on the edge of our seats! Cacodemons look pretty cheesy too, and their fireballs are sooo easy to avoid. They might as well be big flying bullseyes.
  5. I think it was meant to symbolize that he is now stuck in hell as his price for being an evil mofo. Maybe they should have been more clear by like showing him getting reamed from behind by Satan, but ehhh, this did fine =).

Id made somethings real and some not...

This thread really got interesting when someone started vouching for the existence of demons. What an interesting guy!

What is your favorite D3 creature?

I think the most improved creatures from the original doom are the lost souls..they can actually deal some damage now. My favorite creature would have to be the chainsaw zombies, nothing scares me more than a chainsaw zombie coming out of a dark corner.

Parental Evilness...The REAL enemy of Dewm 3

one more thing sorry. The way doom3 is programmed I think it instills paranoia too. Things CONSTANTLY spawn behind you (sorry if this is a spoiler I feel it's vital to the discussion) so much so that at least I personally begin to look over my shoulder in real-life in response to this.

Parental Evilness...The REAL enemy of Dewm 3

I am 18 years old now. I have a full ride to the 2nd best business school in the U.S., despite wasting many many hours on countless video games (primarily everquest). I've played tons and tons of doom games, and I have to say that if there was a game I would expect super-christian parents to dispute, it would be doom. So many pentagrams and Satanist things are present in Doom, and really I think they toned it down for Doom 3. I played the Nintendo 64 doom when I was about 14, and I actually felt a little creeped out and queasy after all the smiling horned demons with blood coming out of their mouths and upside down crosses for scenery. I had to stop playing it. I am not a religious person at all..I was baptised catholic..but it didn't really take effect! But this doesn't make me Satanist either..and really, I truly believe there is a large amount of disturbing things in the Doom games, including Doom 3 which I have almost finished. If I was a parent, I feel I would be fine with my 12 year old son playing counterstrike, I would be fine with them playing Unreal, but Doom is built to be psychologically disturbing. There's spiders for arachnaphobics (me), flying baby monsters, Hell references, pentagrams, and in the most literal sense of the word, Demons. This was explained in the Doom books as well ( I read all four..liked them myself) that the Doom universe was constructed in a way as to be as deeply disturbing as possible to instill as much fear into the marines of the complex. These demons could have taken any form but they took the forms inspired by our concept of Hell. Even at eighteen years old, when I play doom for four hours, after I am done I glance around my house warily. I go to sleep sometimes having images of the game that are very disturbing preventing me from a good nap. I consider myself a very stable person, but still with that kind of youthful impressionability. My concern with Doom and younger players is not that they will become homicidal maniacs, I STRONGLY believe video games are not the cause of this. However, I think that the deep Hellish nature of the Doom games is something that makes the game appropriate for only those 15 and older I think, maybe 16. That's my take on it anyway..anyone else feel disturbed after playing it sometimes? Maybe I am just a wuss..but I think if a kid spent too much time with all these demon images and bleeding wall antichrist atmopshere it would leave them kind of demented...
