What makes for enjoyable melee/Tyson gameplay?

I've been casually working on a map where the first 10 or so minutes has an emphasis on Berserk punching and rationing bullets/shells for hitscanners and the occasional turret. From reading megawad discussions, people often don't seem to enjoy the obligatory map21 post-death exit punching maps. I'm interested in hearing what y'all think makes for a good fisting map rather than the kind that's not pleasant.

I like fisting around corners, catching monsters unawares. And behold doors, too.
