Any Software/Programs which anyone can recommend that can play MIDI files
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to Kaido's topic in Doom General
OpenMPT is a tracker intended more for module files, though. I would not recommend it for MIDI due to the MIDI format not being compatible with the tracker format--you'd run into a lot of limitations, and MIDI files, unlike modules, are not pattern-based at all. -
That is indeed just a third-party/unofficial shareware release. Such releases of DOS games were very common.

With all those dislikes, the new trailer is actually better than I expected. The special effects are cheap, sure, but the outdoor shots of Mars look cool, as does the group of imps. The helmet HUD with the map display was cute.

The drums, particularly the snares, in the remixes tend to get drowned out by the other instruments. At 0:16 in the first remix for example, the snare is "mushy" and has trouble cutting through the leads which should perhaps be lowered in volume.

Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary World Tour KEEPS CRASHING on map load
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to Foebane72's topic in Everything Else
The now-discontinued commercial Episode 4 patch is called Plutonium PAK. The game with Episode 4 already included is called Atomic Edition. Megaton Edition includes the Atomic Edition and the 3 authorized expansion packs: Duke it out in D.C., Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach, and Duke: Nuclear Winter. -
Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary World Tour KEEPS CRASHING on map load
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to Foebane72's topic in Everything Else
The game or some required files (such as Microsoft C++ Redistributables, which should be automatically installed upon a first-time launch) likely did not install properly, since you restarted the PC without the rest of the installation finishing (I don't know why it would have froze, though). -
I finally got DUSK - Intruder Edition, AMID EVIL - Warrior Edition, and Shadow Warrior 2 Deluxe. All of those were on my Steam wishlist for a while as I was waiting for them to go on sale. So far I have only finished SW2's story, though I am enjoying all of the games. I'm also looking forward to these upcoming FPS games: Prodeus, Hellbound, Ion Maiden, and WRATH: Aeon of Ruin.

Chamelenoel learns how to create MIDI music
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to NieMaMordy's topic in Everything Else
Some other things to learn are diatonic scales. The two most recent tracks are still pretty chromatic. While there is nothing wrong with writing music like that, you will find that the music can feel quite jarring/unsettling (some genres such as Black Metal often use heavy dissonance intentionally for this reason). Music written using diatonic scales generally sounds much more pleasant. -

You can look up and down in vanilla Heretic, though. -
SIGIL v1.21 - New Romero megawad [released!]
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to MsKaye's topic in Doom General
Did you already contact LRG about this? Also, did you thoroughly search the box? I think I saw in an unboxing video that the items can become loose in the box and fall out of the foam insert. -
By that logic, DOOM 2016 was also a meme.

SIGIL v1.21 - New Romero megawad [released!]
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to MsKaye's topic in Doom General
I assume you mean the id Anthology box? "Doom Anthology" was the name of a mess of a compilation that included stolen and pirated content. The id Anthology box is cool, but I have no interest in getting it due to the unfortunately outrageous prices. A complete copy on eBay these days would cost like AU $1,000, which is 10 times more than I'm willing to spend. -
Were Perditions gate and Hell to pay released in boxes?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to Vermil's topic in Doom General
I'm going to assume jewel cases only, as I have never seen boxed copies appear on eBay. -
Deluxe and collectors editions US and Canada only?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to massivefanofdoom's topic in Doom Eternal
@Digi-Kong I would assume so. It was about the same for DOOM 2016. Although it included a disc, you still had to download the game. -
Commander Keen — Official E3 Announcement
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to [McD] James's topic in Everything Else
I have a lot of nostalgia for the games, so I may be biased but I like them a lot. I would just recommended playing the games in DOSBox, as the current "ports" were made from reverse-engineering (only the Keen Dreams source was released). Chocolate Keen is very accurate, though, and supports Keen 1-3. Some notes: * The gameplay of Keen 4 and later involves frequent save-scumming, as Keen can only take one hit before dying and restarting the level from scratch. The first 3 Keens do not support mid-level saving, so have fun getting through the levels without getting hit even once. * There are very few boss fights in the series, so don't expect the games' final levels to always be particularly climactic. -
I downloaded the latest Experimental 1.19 release before it was taken down and can confirm that the version of the included GZDoom executable actually contains a DOOM logo icon. There was also the folder that SGTNAPALM mentioned that contained additional icons of the DOOM trademarks and copyrighted cover art.

Did you check your email? -
Uh-oh.

I think the main issue is that the models and textures are derivative works of a commercial game's assets, and can be used without owning an official IWAD.
-
@TheNoob_Gamer You say the mod author (for lack of a better term) removed the copyrighted stuff, but I can still see the WADs that contain the hi-res remakes of the DOOM weapons, monsters, textures, etc. Anyone can still run it with Freedoom, so I don't think that version of the mod will make ZeniMax any happier.

Deluxe and collectors editions US and Canada only?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to massivefanofdoom's topic in Doom Eternal
Probably not. The Bethesda Gear Store says "The PC Version of the game will come with a printed code and the code is redeemable on Bethesda.net. Please review our General Policies and the section about video game purchases." -
What would you like to see in the Collector's Edition?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to Knee Deep In The Fan's topic in Doom Eternal
I'm hesitant because I'm not sure what the helmet's quality will be. I don't expect it to look like the current mock-up. I know the game is made by id, but Bethesda has messed up physical items before (see the Fallout 76 canvas bag debacle). -

I'm in Australia and the Collector's Edition is available for pre-order here. It's $369.95 though. Yeesh.
