It has been renamed to "Dead players can exit levels" in prboom-plus, as this describes the (rather pointless) actual function of this comp option. I'm pretty sure that Lee Killough just screwed up, and never intended to prevent dead exits. If you use even a vaguely modern version of prboom-plus, this option will be set to "yes" by default.

Then Adblock Plus is your friend.

The one I tend to remember is that a cubic metre of water weighs a metric tonne. Can save a lot of embarrassment trying in vein to move/lift a moderate sized vessel full of water. There are 16 ounces in a pound. Yeah, if it weren't for the fact that we have 10 fingers and 10 toes, 8 or 16 would have been a very natural choice of base for a number system.

Doom Speedrun Youtube Channel

Yes, you should definitely get the player's permission before uploading a video of someone else's demo. -
The last two years I was away from home for Xmas Day itself. And before then I didn't live in MN. I've experienced a couple of very white New Years in Minnesota, such as this.

Well, I suppose there is Hellraiser.

I felt certain that the word "anus" was going to follow soon. But you went for the not-so-low-hanging fruit. Regarding suits, I'm glad I don't have to wear them.

Indeed, I can't see today's light dusting of snow lasting the next three days, as they are meant to be quite sunny. The only white Christmas I've ever had was the one I spent in Antarctica. Though even there it didn't actually snow. Ross Ice Shelf, Christmas Day 2008

Prboom-plus worked pretty good at the Prague LAN. I don't recall any issues of the type you describe.

They were recorded as a single demo. They weren't recorded separately and then added together.

Joseph A. Bank is also offering an amazing "buy one get two absolutely free" deal. Any other special offers people want to plug on behalf of any companies?

Not really a question of reading comprehension. Upon seeing anything, before we have had time to identify or read the content in any detail, our brains seize upon anything vaguely recognizable and form an instant emotional reaction to it. This is a useful defence mechanism, as it might buy us an extra split second to respond to a threat. So it is inevitable that an url like this will get a negative reaction - we experience a reaction before we've consciously even seen the words, let alone read them. Of course, in the case of words, you need to have some memory or experience to trigger a negative or positive reaction. If the US Census guy who had to choose an abbreviated name for a document about imports and exports had been a DW regular, he would probably have chosen a name other than impsex.pdf.

Memento Mori demos [-complevel 2]
Grazza replied to Kristian Ronge's topic in Speed Demo Submissions
Nice demos, Istvan. Amazingly smooth and accurate - not much sign of rust! -
You can combine the data, but the resulting demo almost certainly won't play back correctly. The reason is that many in-game events are determined by the state of the pseudo random number generator (PRNG). If you append a demo to the end of another, it will get different random numbers than if it starts from scratch. This will very quickly throw events out of sync.

Patching should certainly work. Make sure you have a completely unaltered iwad (maybe reinstall from the original disk) and an unmodified version 1.9 registered Doom.exe file. If you don't have the exe (it wasn't supplied in some later versions), then you can use the one from the shareware - it's identical. You may need to run the patcher in Dosbox. Doomsfall: if you don't actually know something, it's sometimes best not to say anything.

"Do" as in play, I presume? Massmouthmas is an obvious one. I'll assume you're familiar with H2H-Xmas. The other stuff in themes/xmas is of a more gimmicky nature.

Can't Run From Evil - Part 1 -- Test -- **UPDATE**
Grazza replied to NokturnuS's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I'm very happy to hear that you are doing this. You've made some legendary maps over the years. I'll be sure to play them when I get some time. Perhaps you could clarify whether the maps use Boom features or if they require simply limit-removal (i.e. -complevel 9 or -complevel 2). It isn't totally clear from your description. "Designed for prboom-plus" doesn't tell us much, as prboom-plus can emulate vanilla (with limits extended), Boom and MBF, amongst others. -
Please don't put huge animated gifs in [img] tags. Read the image-posting rules in the FAQ.

Turn-based strategy game? Ugh. Boring! Seriously, it sounds a little reminiscent of Diplomacy.

Hobbs: If you want this thread pruned of non-nominations, please say so, and restate the thread "rules" in a more clear-cut fashion (perhaps stating where general discussion, etc., should be conducted). If you're happy to let this thread degenerate into chitchat, then there's no action needed.

Indeed, of all the reviews that Rawne/NoPoet has, over the years, made of wads where he is out of his depth skill-wise, this is perhaps the fairest, most reasonable and insightful. It's also free of the usual cusswords and fairyspeak (for want of better terms).

The first wad you ever played.
Grazza replied to General Rainbow Bacon's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I visited Alcatraz about a month ago, and when I got back home I played through the maps that were called Alcatraz, and there was no similarity. Even the one in Hacx, which at least seems like a fairly convincing prison on an island, has very little similarity in terms of layout. But the cell doors are somewhat similar to those installed when it became a federal prison and the shooting gallery (areas where armed guards can watch the prisoners while out of reach of them) elements are there. So perhaps it is at least "inspired by Alcatraz". There's certainly an Area 51 wad, though perhaps you're referring to an earlier one with the same name. There are some wads that claim to be like real places that I can personally verify are broadly true to life. The Unholy Trinity and Copenhagen Central Station are the most notable, while St John's College and Chester are OK in terms of layout. Also G8. A few other threads where wads based on real places were discussed: http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=48019 http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=45148 http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=42061 -
Yes, it does. It gives an error message because it fails to patch the wad (it is already "patched") but by that point it has already patched the exe. Using the shareware exe is like using Registered Doom 1.9. Gameplay differences (vs Ultimate Doom) will be minor (just lost soul behaviour), assuming the boss specials in ExM8 don't have an impact (i.e. Cyb or Spid in E1M8, Spid in E2M8 or Cyb in E3M8).

Can we expect any Christmas-style WAD until 24 Dec?
Grazza replied to Katamori's topic in WAD Releases & Development
If you're looking for a Christmas-themed wad that is more recent than H2H-Xmas, then you could take a look at Massmouthmas. I reviewed it here. -
It may not be compatible with 1.1. The early versions were missing some resources that were added in later ones. DTWID also has some texture oddities, as discussed here (in the context of Freedoom, but it might have something to do with the 1.1 problem).
