  1. Intentional hall of mirrors to represent unfinished stuff? Incredibly boxy rooms to represent lazyness? Applying brush techniques to architecture like lots of pointy stuff to symbolize anger?

Also, I don't recognize the first two pictures. Would you might enlightening me?

And, uh... mirth.wad was one of the few maps that made me really laugh in Wooo, so it might be a jokewad?

  2. Unless the very start of the map is a jumpscare, I didn't found any...

I love how you can just ignore the Arch Vile.

As for the map, it's... ok. Excellent architecture, technically speaking, but the default textures really don't work for what you were trying to do. Oh, and that oven was lovely.

I ... really can't say that it helps at all with the fact that that area is just so damn boring to look at.

It could probably use a floor texture with some color and maybe some colorful accents to the walls, at least.

Good point. I'm working with a very limited palette other than special areas and I can't make that part too complex (invisible teleporters, etc.), but I should work on the geometry.

His other screenshots make me think of his map as of a joke map, so I'm pretty sure it is intentional.

The visual theme of the map is light sources creating darkness on stuff.
And while I cannot deny it's a joke map, it's... I don't know, I'm trying to do things that aren't your usual "Walk in, shoot demons, stop hell invading Earth" thing.

For example, in the other levels for this wad you read a book and are transported to a surreal, cthulhuesque place; A map with five different logic puzzles; Fixing a machine that makes "kid food" while making sure it's ambiguous whether it's food for kids or food out of kids. And in one the demons have captured an AI and are training it to generate demon porn, featuring images from an actual AI that does that, like http://i.imgur.com/AXvwKPT.png(ok, I did go full joke on this one).

Shaders? I want this so bad.

  4. Gotta love those broken graphics.
Nice job on that Mayhem map too, A.Gamma. Is the shadow on the last pic misaligned vertically from the pillars? Some third-dimension is always nice to see.

Here's some pictures of my still on-going project...

Yes, this is an actual hint for another level and also part of the secretest of secrets in this map.

Some sector art fitting for a map that goes into the fourth dimension quite a lot.

Lighting always adds some quality to the map.

Could just make a map for this project cause i really can't see several of the people who signed up actually bothering to contribute a map at this point... :)

    I'll say this:
FragMan is going to make a map; I'm going to go to his house and force him at gunpoint to map if necessary. He convinced me to enter this along with him, so he's going to finish what he started like I did.

  6. Final version of El Dorado, barring terrible bugs:

Quick review of the first maps on HMP with pistol start:

Map 1: Not a fan of the littlest switches in the world, personally. You might also want to mark some of the lines outside the map as Not Shown On Map.
Other than that, pretty solid, pretty good, pretty easy. Loved the water changing colors.

Map 2: No idea how to reach the secret without jumping. Short, hard, 10/10. Maybe some more shotgun ammo at the start would help though. I ended up shooting the revenants with the pistol. You might also want to mark some of the lines outside the map as Not Shown On Map.

Map 3: So I was strolling down this corridor and I died. I pulled this switch and I died. I opened this door, died and my dead body was revived just so they could kill me again. It was pretty fun. Easily my favorite level so far.

Map 4: First room looks quite boring. The gameplay is fine, other than things already mentioned.
I really, really like the aesthetic of those giant corridors though. 10/10 beauty, 8/10 gameplay.
