It's very ignorant of you to also discard the existence of Quake's SP scene, considering there are websites like Quaddicted that stores chockful of singleplayer maps and mods which it's releases go way back, since 1996. And yes, people do play them. And if the SP was never it's design goal, then Id software wouldn't have made 30 levels of singleplayer content, and people would have never made custom maps for it.

I've always found French and Italian fascinating, and I sort of plan to learn them, but not before tackling German first. I know a little bit of German, so I want to at least finish learning it properly since in my country they teach it as a sort of "third" language in school after Bosnian and English (or fifth if you count Croatian and Serbian, honestly it's a fubar situation in here in terms of languages). Also while conversing with a friend who is from Finland, Finnish has also piqued my interest. P.S. @bzzrak

Depends. I don't like treating people unfairly, so on tougher areas i mostly tend to balance things with the inclusion of more ammo, health or armor. But there is this sense of schadenfreude when you see them fail at certain parts of that stage, and it gives me this mischievous grin all the time. Do note that I'm saying this from the Quake perspective, since I still haven't made a Doom wad that would make people rip out their cerebellum.

As far as I know. No mods require you to overwrite the original files (and they shouldn't be). You're supposed to create a new folder in your Quake folder (where id1 is stationed) when adding your mod. When that is done start up the game and type "game (name of the mod/mappack folder)" in the console. Then you'll be able to play your mod or mappack with no problem. Quake, just like Doom has it's own fair share of source ports and each of them is different in their own way. Quakespasm is the most commonly used one, since it's the most faithful to the style of the original game but updated to modern software standards. The closest Doom port equivalent for quakespasm would be like a mash of crispy doom, prboom+ and a little bit of zdoom. Some mods only run on another port called Darkplaces, since that one has a bigger array of fancy lightning and particle effects that modders can apply. There are other source ports like MarkV, Qbism and some others which don't pop up in my mind now. Kraftwerk's coming to my city in two weeks, so I'm currently marathoning their songs and watching some live performances.

Lately I've taken quite a liking at using blue and green together to have some sort of a 'aquatic feel' to it. Before that it was mostly blue.

I played doom a few times on a tv through an android tv box. Using D-Touch and a bluetooth controller. It was... a challenging experience.

Oooo, Love the Quake-ish textures, @NiGHTMARE. I've always thought some quake textures would fit nicely in heretic style. Speaking of crypts, sometime ago I was planning on trying to convert or at least modify the unused Crypt textures from Unreal 1. (though they were used in one ut99 map) I've only done 2 by then, but once i pick up some steam I'll consider finishing this. I believe they fit best with heretic's sandstone textures.

Most of the Quake's SP community is situated in Func_Msgboard (http://www.celephais.net/board/forum.php). Although we mostly use Discord now to frequently communicate and show off maps and other stuff.
