I agree, naturally. But I can't help having a sense of humor for it though. If people continue to apologise for this ridiculous fundamentalism, and shove it under the carpet - what else is there to do but laugh? I'm with Doomkid - disgusting atrocity, countless lives and families affected; and a typical response 'it's not because of his religion...' Oh right, sure fella. -

There was no cyberdemon mate, I spent 10 mins in that first square room and nothing. I hit all buttons except the two which seem to be broken for me. It's very cool, and a lot of work clearly went in... I'm thinking there are compatibility issues.

Do you know the history with this guy? Probably better you don't... it isn't a joke WAD. He deliberately makes piece of shit map's in 10 minutes for attention, and to troll the community.

Got stuck after going to hell from the portal. No redskull key, no other doors... also I had to IDCLIP into the portal, as the green buttons didn't work. Playing in GZDoom.

Probably watching our malamutes feast on the corpse of a dead goat when I was a boy, about 6-7 years old. It passed away over night, dogs got into it before I we got down there. I went down first, seeing that savagery right in front of my face and the horrible feeling I had in my gut made me realize some things about nature.

It depends what direction you want to go in... I'd probably recommend playing through Valiant and Blood Stain to start. I personally became interested in making maps after playing Deus Vult. Careful not to arbitrarily dump monsters in though en masse. Think up an idea man, or look at old renaissance or medieval art and try to replicate that feeling in your WAD. Then understand that it can take months to produce something of worth; not a couple of days. Goodluck!

Hi all, I present to you 'The Tyrants Abyss' a single, large Hell map. Fight your way out of a fortress, across the chasm and descend into the abyss... The map is currently still in Beta as I have completed 3/4 of it; I require some play through's by the community for testing. Has a temporary endgame line-def. No varying difficulty yet - I imagine it will present a challenge to most Doomer's here. Compatibility: GZdoom, Zdoom. Not tested in other ports. Supports mouse aim. Influences: Dante's Inferno, Deus Vult, Green Herring's 'Year 23 - The Belly of the Beast', Wayne Barlowe & John Martin paintings (Pandemonium) Credits: Eric "The Green Herring" Baker for condoning the use of resources he used by Eriance and the Gothic Deathmatches texture set. Music: The Punisher PSX original game soundtrack (currently a place holder) Early test play through: rdwpa, R. B Will include a txt file on final release. The map is a semi-slaughter with loads of infighting potential. Also makes for a good speed run. I've designed it to, although be linear in nature, quite open and interconnected with multiple strategies. Players can kite enemies back if they choose to... although it's possible (and probably more fun) to run and gun, circling hordes. Interesting read. I think you're right, not many tweaks needed for UV in that case. I will add however, that there is a relatively easy backpack find at the start; the switch you hit where the chaingunners/sergeants are atop the ledge, opens the wall right next to where you can see them through the window. I put the second and third backpack outside incase the player missed it. I'd say that entire scenario with the wave of imps and later spawning AV's/Rev's is the hardest part of the map. As soon as I go through that door and see the AV's I drop down to the right into the lava for the blue armor. Anyway, thanks again.

Awesome, nice work! I agree on the door textures that they don't sit quite right with me, they're just place holders at this stage. Did you find the invulnerability sphere ontop of the lava fall? seriously helps with the horde of revenants. I'm not sure what yaqxsw was getting at - but you did well to complete what I've provided so far... it's not easy by any stretch. With the cyberdemons, I wanted to limit the first two to the black step infront of the fortress gate, simply in an attempt to block players from just sprinting past them. This also gives the player room to breath. How did you find the ammo balance?

In mapping I definitely focus on atmosphere first and foremost; the 'feeling' the map has, for me has to be unique at any rate. Gameplay is definitely important too. If you want an answer... 50%, 50% for sure. The atmosphere cannot undermine the play, and vice versa.

Yes, at the time of this map I started another titled 'Exsanguination'. Will be less of a slaughter map as it's based in a Citadel. Now to find time when I'm not living life to finish this one first... Thanks. Yeah I got the same framedrop using ZDoom too which was interesting... it's normally my 'go-to' port if a WAD is too hefty. It's a big map, but not Sunder-big. Hopefully it didn't impede on your play too much.
