Bobby Prince is a Filthy Thief

Nope. ;) I only did one blatant rip of NIN; and that was the first week I ever bought any of his albums (can anyone tell me the name of the wad and the map?). Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for Trent R. and NIN, I'm just not a big fan. As far as your other guesses, unless by sheer accident on my part and coincidence of notes flowing together, you're not correct.

Sure, sure. ;) Try to use color and it doesn't work, but I'm too stupid to quote. ;) Thanks, man.

    What makes a bad TC?

    1. Replacing things for the sake of replacing them. 2. No story (see design document) 3. No design document 4. Scope Creep

Don't know how to quote here... but a lot of you are barking up the wrong tree... :) This is 100% accurate. BP was asked to emulate metal music, BP admitted to this in an interview a long time ago. I'm almost certain I have it saved. It might even be somewhere on John Romero's web page. BP even said that a lot of his pieces were SUPPOSED to be recognized as Metallica, Pantera, etc. Due to the limitations of the GM instrument set, he augmented many of the pieces melodically, hence the unique style of the Doom music soundtrack. What it may lack in some areas of originality, it makes up for in interpretative genious. Good lord. Have you listened to some of MY tunes? Can you name the influences there that affected me? Special prize if you correctly name 3 bands. Agreed. They aren't ripoffs. There are many borrowed MOTIFS, but not ripoffs. Espcecially since he made no effort to hide the fact of the source material. Well, they are better than a direct MIDI implementation of Metallica music. :) They "fit" better as they are easier to listen to repeated over and over again. What a lot of you are missing is the state of id Software at the time Doom was released. They were all very impressionable people, like many of us are, and they wanted their product to be popular. They had the sense to know they couldn't license the real metal music, and technologically-speaking, they had General MIDI to work with. BP is a noted gaming composer that has a LOT of skill working with General MIDI instrument set (Klem is a General MIDI GOD and has a natural "knack" of utilizing the limitations into aural masterpieces - all hail Mark Klem!! ROFL). They basically said, Bobby, do metal music and here are the bands we all listen to and dig. Do the best you can without it being obvious. Oh, and you have 3 months.

    Serious Sam vs Doom

Both offer awesome cooperative frag anything that moves. Loved it.

Linguica, dude. You scare me. ;) I've seen your web space here. It's a frightening thing. :) And that January 2003 post isn't scaring me off. Wuss-boy. ;)

Hey. I think I'm still a member of TeamTNT. At least I never unsubscribed from any of the mailing lists...

Hey! Yeah. I got misty over the last month catching up on Doom. Been looking for John Bye, Adelusion, Dario and Milo, and everyone. It's just something to fire up (your port of choice) and play Doom. It honestly does NOT get old. I'm amazed at how much fun I'm having. Sure, I'm looking forward to HL:2, Doom:3, but man. Using my imagination and runnin' through all 2,375 PWADS I have is great. ;) Still can't hold a candle to Klem music-wise, and I never will, but I fondly remember working with him on many projects, and working with Brian Kidby on TeamTNT's Icarus, etc. :) Just nice to see Doom thrive. Hence, this thread.

    Using ZETH in WinXP

No prob. Boris. I'm unawares of the issues between Doomworld and New Doom. I like both sites... :) I appreciate the redirect though, and again, I did not cross-post on purpose or with any malignant intent. :) Thanks for the help.

    Using ZETH in WinXP

I can get the editor to run in it's internal 640x480x256 mode, but I cannot get it to run at any higher resolution. It kills my monitor with a Signal Out of Range (Timing) issue. Is this a known issue? Is there a work-around?

    favorite music wad?

Heheheh. Last couple weeks re-discovered Doomsday (Jdoom)... been having fun. Also discovered that mp3.com now only shows 3 mp3s?? WTF? Talked to Klem today, though... Hmmmm.

Those guys that did the music to Memento Mori II suck ass. :D

    Newbie?

I was thinking about doing that, but don't really know what to update it WITH. It's pretty much just a repository now. Who do I contact? I think I still have my access password and such... I need some technical information about the hosting as well as any advertisement code necessary. I may just update it. ;) Rumor has it there MAY be a new music venture in the works. Hmmmm... I lurk around here quite a bit, on and off... But with more and more ZDoom and Doomsday activity, and with Doom3 looming closer, it's only fitting that the dead old guys like me start stirring again. I will say that... I spoke to Mark Klem today. :)

    help with doom music...

Can you read regular music, or does it have to be TAB? I think I can scrounge up PDFs of all of my music scores, but it might take awhile. This'll kill Archvile: I think I have the original *.wrk files of Klem's stuff, too. :)

    Using ZETH in WinXP

You just did what others have done. Posted a link, which I do appreciate, for me to follow to get advice. Why here? ZETH is the editor for ZDoom, is it not? Don't ask me, man. DoomsdayHQ sent me to this forum. Boris, do you have nothing else better to do than be an asshat for those of us trying to find the answer to a problem? Was my post so off topic?
  16. This project is borderline as long as Insertion. ;) This released yet? What who? Tolwyn?

    Using ZETH in WinXP

I didn't intend to cross post. I was given a direct link to this forum from someone helpful in the Doomsday forums. Ever consider that people don't visit every single forum? Maybe there's someone in this forum that can help me more efficiently than in the general editing forum? Get off my back.

ZETH and Signal Out of Range

If I try to run DETH or ZETH in any other resolution other than 640x480, my monitor craps out with "signal out of range." I've tried setting my desktop to 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc. I've tried setting the refresh rate at 60, 70, 75, 85, etc. No matter what I do, the program craps out unless it is run at 640x480. I've tried compatibility mode, etc. I can run both at 640x480, but it's not very efficient for me to do so. The monitor I have is a Diamondtron VX920 Flat Panel (not LCD, just flat panel CRT). The video card is a GeForce4 TI4600 128MB card.
