no, i'm not pressing r again it's weird....it seems to do it when i press a different key just after i've pressed the "slowmo" key i dunno, i guess it could be my ZBoard software messing up!
-
dunno if anyone else has been fooling around with the command variables in Resurrection of Evil, but i came across this one: g_enableSlowMo heheh Matrix-style fun without the weird "oval-vision" effect and without the time limit. only thing is, i've found that if you bind it to a key using: bind r "toggle g_enableslowmo" if you enable SlowMo mode, it will sometimes disable itself.....i dunno why!? Anyways, i thought it was a pretty cool cvar, and couldn't find any reference to it online anywhere so i thought i'd submit it here! :D

i think that this patch has slowed down my DOOM 3 there's times when my machine will drop down as low as 25fps, and that should NOT be happening on my machine. i think i'm gonna end up uninstalling and reinstalling the original retail version :(
-
well at the moment my system specs are as follows: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2GHz clock speed) 1GB DDR RAM XFX nVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256MB card i have my aperture set at 512MB, but i did that manually...i'm sure that before i upgraded my BIOS (and before the CMOS got wiped) that DOOM 3 ran a little faster, so i may set my aperture down a notch. thanks for the tip :)

do you have some more information on this please? :)
-
ok well i've confirmed the patch is working, because the flashlight has changed slightly, and i get the help text when querying a cvar without a variable. about the s_maxSoundsPerShader cvar, what is a good number to set this at for good sound? at the moment, i just guessed and set it to 6.
-
just installed the patch, but i can't understand why the console still reports my game version as 1.0.1279 i thought this was a 1.05 patch?
-
so if you knew what sound design was all about, why did you "kick-off on one" saying that it's sight sounds, not a dance track? by saying something like that, you're basically saying that you only know of Music terminology and not general sound terminology. and i wasn't trying to trumpet my elitism, and i admit that i don't know everything....but what i do know, i know quite well. i know that this may sound silly after my rant, but please accept my apologies for insulting your intelligence. my intentions weren't to try and turn this thread into a "who's got a bigger ****" thread. i understand that is my fault and i'm sorry.

considering the amount of time he spent on doing the sounds, i would have thought not but then again, i think we all know what Reznor is like with wasting time!
-
ok for starters, i'm not a kid. second i'm not retarded. if the sounds that Reznor made were put in the NIN folder, why isn't there a NIN folder in this supposed "Trent Reznor Sound Pack"? i believe that these are just sounds from the Alpha that were ditched.
-
I believe that Reznor didn't make all of the sounds, in particular the sounds I'm talking about....not the end
-
and if you knew anything about sound design you'd know that you can use anything you want to design the sound
-
if these sounds are from the alpha leek, then i deduce that not all of the sound effects were made by or produced by Reznor, as he wouldn't let something like that slip by. and i know that you're all saying "well how the hell would you know?" i don't know 110% certain, but what i do know is that i have been studying music for years, listening in great detail (as if i were some kind of music tech geek or something) and i pick out every little thing. i have never heard a sample in any of the work by NIN that is a blatantly obvious sample.
-
yes it is!!! thank you!! but Reznor still has enough integrity to not use a sample that's so blatantly obvious....even if he were to use a sample as obvious as that, he'd put it through distortion, phasers, flange, put LFO's on it and maybe even some harmonic rotation. that sample is pretty much clean.

Do you think it was neccessary for ID to redesign all the old creatures?
oscillik replied to Carp's topic in Doom 3
of course it has mate!! the original Lost Souls: screaming skulls on fire. the DOOM 3 Lost Souls: screaming cybernetic hell-like heads, with flesh, lips, eyes and mouths that open to reveal some sharp teeth. design change? methinks so :)
