  4. The bear has awoken from his slumber, so submissions are closed. Thank you to everyone who participated! This may be the biggest event we’ve done that wasn’t 1-hour speedmaps! What a better way to celebrate Doom’s 30th like we do here at the Pineapple Under the Sea than to put out like that! (Maps, of course.) See you soon!
  5. I’m tapping at your chamber door again, this time to announce we’re on idgames! Thank you SO much to all of our playtesters and bug reporters that helped us get some of this stuff finished up. We also finalized a few of the graphics and the story text, and provided a split wad so music doesn’t repeat in Crispy Heretic. The full version is, of course, still available. Thanks for your support and we hope you have fun! I feel like we’ve learned a lot and grown as a team with this, and you can look forward to a potential follow up next year sometime.
  6. I’m closing open submissions in about 32 hours from now. I have it on good authority that Blue’s lust for starting new projects dies hard, so be on the lookout for our December’s event to start off pretty row- I mean, promptly.

  9. “I like my maps like I like my [plural noun]...quick & dirty!” PUSS 30: Quick & Dirty! Hell Yeah! It’s that time of the year again! Welcome to Quick & Dirty, PUSS’s 3rd Anniversary Under the Sea, and the beginning of PUSS Series IV! On September 9th, 2020, our Bluest of Pineapples opened a dropbox on his discord server for mappers to share 1-hour speedmaps, with the plan of continuing the series the next month. So, here we are...3 years later! PUSS XXX!!! We’re like a 24 Hour Video Shop, but without the cool neon signs and soggy VHS tapes with Seinfeld recorded over them. I feel like it was just yesterday I was mapping for PUSS XX: Hell Yeah. Where the hell has all the time gone? This last year, we kicked off with Hell Yeah!, breaking the record for submissions with over 60 maps and introducing several newcomers to our events! Since then, we survived zombie invasions, ventured the coldest reaches of Hell, celebrated Doommas in less than 3 days, killed our Valentines in deathmatch, got cheesy on the moon with our very own Zorglo Blazkowicz, returned to Crash Castles with Knightguy, ripped and tore on Mars as the Doom Slayer, got heretical in Parthoris, and then got really weird while sloshing around in…hot soapy water. We saw some of our biggest events, our largest custom-made resource packs, and some of our most unique ideas yet! We’ve seen some extensive resource gathering and creation, and admittedly our time to work on it did not hold up to some of our ambition, but we’re getting there! (I’m looking at you, PUSS 22!) We’ve seen an expansion of our project lead roster beyond myself, Blue, @Steve88 and @Peccatum Mihzamiz, as @myolden, @MemeMind, and @Egregor have joined us in leading! That said, the majority of Series III is a testament to the community that Blue has built to support these crazy ideas and turn them into mapsets! We've also welcomed back veterans to the series time and again, and saw some new recruits become regulars, as well! Without all of you, PUSS wouldn't be what it is today, and I know we're all grateful for your participation and enthusiasm! That goes for all of our wonderful playtesters, streamers, resource developers, players, and overall cheerleaders! Thank you! Somewhere in our journeys, we reached over 666 PUSS maps, got mentioned in the cacowards for Mapping at Warpspeed and got it played by the DWMegawadClub, and saw idgames releases for Mappin' Round the Doommas Tree, Lover's Quarrel and Lunacy. We also introduced our low-key Treasure Chest Series, which has now seen 4 quarterly installments since last September. Lover’s Quarrel saw our first PUSS-developed deathmatch set played online. We ran our first live speedmapping event in Mapping Off and raised money for charity (Y’all are the best!) while myolden beat the crap out of BluePineapple72 and lost because Blue paid off the judges. (At least that’s what I heard, because I didn’t get paid). Thanks again to DirtyGiveaway, Crob4r, @MtPain27, @Jark, and @Zero the Red! We’ve got more PUSS on the way (teehee), as our devhell backlog starts to clear, and we’re excited to share all of it with you, but until then…we’re going to map some more, because that’s how we do! Series III contains A LOT of maps! We know how to put out! (Maps. I mean Maps. Chill out.) Hell Yeah alone holds our record for 63 maps for a project! (Unless you count Hot Soapy Water, but we'll get to that later). We can do better than that, can’t we? YES, WE CAN! Zorglo's Back He's the star of the show, traversing the PUSS multiverse! Add a UFO to your map. (Lunacy) XXX Include the Event Logo texture in your map Family Since it's XXX, include a Vin Diesel reference in your map. Golden Boys 5 Archviles, but they cannot be directly killed by the player shooting them. Like Grandma Used to Make Them! Add Doomcute Christmas Cookies (MRTDT) Cheese Me, Daddy! Put some cheese in your map! (Lunacy) I Love You SO MUCH! Put 2 Hearts in your map! (LQ) Most Azure of Fruits Sector art of a blue pineapple Huzzah! Add at least 3 secrets to your map! (CCC2) Huzzah, again! Add a secret exit to your map. You may make a 30-minute secret map on top of it. (Limit 1 per 1-hour submission). Singular Focus You must pick only a single ammo type for your level. Tyson-style map counts here. This will limit your zombie bestiary. Barrels of Love Add 30 or more barrels Darkness! Your map can only have a lighting level of 144 or lower. (Dis) Gore n' Bones Make a map with a fleshy theme and have at least 8 revenants. (Hell Yeah! MAP29) Bloody Floors and Crushing Skulls Add 10 Crushers to your map. (Hell Yeah! MAP47) E1even You can only use one monster per type. (so 1 zombieman, 1 archvile, 1 mancubus, etc.) (Hell Yeah! MAP17) Are You My Muumi? Add a sector snowman to your map. (Hell Yeah! MAP60) The Doommas Spirit A Bone closet in a trap door! Quarreling Again Make a map together with your valentine. (Who cares that it’s September?!) The Day You ALMOST caught Captain Deathbeard! Include a pirate boat/ship in your map. Hibernation’s Over Add a small cave area in your map. (Maybe it belongs to a bear?) The Apocalypse Only Zombies in your map.(TTZ) Going Up! Include a big ol’ lift. Going Down! Include a big ol’ lowering floor. Big Mouth Monster Door Include a reference to dis in your map… QuickDirty_RES (Google Drive) 32in24 Tex Base, with a few added textures from Dis, LQ, Lunacy, PT, and Duke Nukem. Maps are due in the Discord Channel or on this thread by September 30th at 11:59 pm CST. We will be compiling the following week. We’re launching October’s event promptly, so give us some time to do that part. Make sure you have a name for your map before submitting. For submissions, please post in this format: Map Name: [ X ] Author: [ X ] Music: [ Song + Author ] Format: [ X ] Build Time: [ X ] Co-op Starts: [Y/N] Difficulty Settings: [Y/N] Gimmicks: [ X ] Comments: [Insert all your Bikini Bottom fanfics here.] Screenshots: [x] We only need the .wad file of your map. Compiling your submission with the resources is unnecessary for this event. Your mapping time can be nonconsecutive. You may collaborate with another mapper. The time limit is the same for your team as it is for everyone else, split between you however you like. Your timer will only go down when you are mapping or playtesting. Speedmaps will be under the honor rule. Neither you nor I can prove if a map went over the time limit or not, but trained eyes can see what is and is not a speedmap. If you cheat, people will notice. Any time in Slade used to give a midi is outside of your mapping time. I would recommend spending some time looking over the texture pack before you begin mapping, so that you don’t waste time scrolling. Once your time is up, if you haven’t beaten your map, please spend time to verify that your level is beatable, and to make sure co-op starts are included. AFTER YOUR TIME LIMIT IS UP: As a general rule, I'm comfortable with you going back into your wad and picking at its bones to make sure everything is neat and tidy. Minor texture changes, bug fixing, and thing placement overhaul are fine by me. Excluding special cases, I do not want you building new rooms/sectors after you've already submitted a map to me. The time limit isn't to challenge you to make a map quickly, it's to light a fire under your ass to create something truly cool with a deadline. PUSS is still a speedmapping series, so maps won't be perfect cacoward level masterpieces, but I would still like for mappers to spend the time polishing maps they have sent to me. There is no cap to how many maps you can submit to these events. Trust me, I know. I'm the reason this rule exists. *wink* Any bug fixing/map changes are due to us once we've set a date, which will be after the completion of playtesting. @BluePineapple72's discord server, The Pineapple Under the Sea, is a sexy little community of mappers that occasionally participate in mapping events.   13. For all intents and purposes, this event is closed! We're in the 20s with maps, and Blue should be compiling what we have soon. Bookend maps will be finished and added soon, and we'll be working on fixes to the texture pack. We'll keep you updated! PUSS 25: LUNACY (Release 1) (idgames) by Pineapple Under the Sea Studios, Led by Death Bear CL-9, UMAPINFO, Tested in PRBOOM+ 2.6 and DSDA-DOOM 0.26.1! 44 maps of Cheesy Lunarbase Goodness! 3-Hour Speedmaps created in February 2023! Lunacy is a wild journey to the moon and back! Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping Series welcomes back our hero from Mapping at Warpspeed, Zorglo Blaskowicz IX, on another Skillsaw-inspired quest to defeat the enemy aliens encroaching on the cheese production facilities of Luna, and to ingest as much dairy as possible. In a challenge to create cheese-filled, Lunar-themed Techbases in 3 hours or less, 27 of us collectively constructed 42** maps in the time limit! We had a lot of fun with this, and we hope you enjoy playing! The last cheese in the universe calls to you! Will you answer? These maps were created in Boom Format for cl-9 play; and were tested in PRBOOM+, DSDA-DOOM, and GZDOOM. Due to the volume of submissions (and a personal need to add flavor text for "story"), we have included a MAPINFO/ UMAPINFO. Maps contain difficulty settings and co-op starts. Thank you to all our in-dev and Beta playtesters! As always, thank you to all the event staff who contributed their time and efforts to making this a great experience, and an extra thank you to everyone who helped me through the development process!
