  1. Yes, it's the same guy. Operation Arctic Wolf and the Astrostein series are probably his best work.
  2. That Russian wad that was essentially just torture porn was pretty reprehensible. Maybe the game-play was great, I don't know. If the author is so much of an asshole that their assholery directly affects the end product than it could probably be too distracting to enjoy.

    Post a picture of yourself!

    You have to synthesize!

    Doomworld Members' Sketchbook

Some thing I drew years ago. It's Sharpie on posterboard. My son got a hold of it when he was a baby and purple-crayon'd it to death.

One of my favorite Ministry tracks! That album desperately needs a remaster.

    Forums are dead

40's opinions aren't without validity. I don't share the same sentiment exactly. The new design is better for my needs personally, where I want to mostly read about Doom related topics. Most people here are into or on the cusp of being middle aged and should have their big boy/girl pants on by now. I'm not scared of reading words I don't agree with on the internet. If someone is willing to write a mini-editorial about something they feel strongly about, it's only because they probably care deeply about the place. If that's a place their coming from, then it shouldn't be hard to at least meet at that relative understanding. It's clear that these forums mean many things to many people and it shouldn't be a surprise that people are going to be worried after a pretty significant change. I personally feel much more optimistic about it as a whole, even for thoughtful discussion, it's just as welcoming as a platform. It just has to come down to making the forum what you want it to be.

    The fate of Vavoom

I feel like Vavoom was the port that demonstrated features that everyone begged the authors of more popular ports to add, but didn't because it would either look hideous or run horrifically bad. I guess it stands as an 'Exhibit A' of the results of forcing the Doom engine too far out of it's comfort zone. Still, I've always admired the author for trying.
  11. Great show. I hope we hear more of Doomkid on future episodes.

    My favorite KMFDM tune.

    What are you listening to?

I have an autographed promo poster for this album in my closet somewhere. I bought some recording gear off of Bryan around the time this came out and the poster was in the package.

    Favorite Guitar Riff fest!

Anyone that spent a portion of their adolescence watching Jackass has probably had this stuck in their head at some point. I'm not familiar with anything else this band has done, but this is one of the catchiest riffs ever recorded.

    WadAuthor is Freeware

My second map editor, after Waded v1.8. I just fired it up and that marble splash screen was such a nostalgia trigger. I'm sorry, I too was a freeloading bastard. I blame myself, but also the general fear of spending money on the internet that was prevalent at the time.

    Favorite Guitar Riff fest!

For real. Dan McCafferty should get more credit, as well. There are few singers that can maintain their range and vocal strength late into their careers, or in his case, improve technically as a singer. Never mind the fact that the tone of his voice sounds like he sings through a dimed out, over-driven vacuum tube at all times.

    Each for entirely different reasons

What PWADs invoke the most nostalgia for you?

Lutz' Inferno Hoover and Bleeding Tower of Pisa by Mike Reed UAC Dead mall.wad school.wad (Steve Katz)
  20. How could I forget? Probably the most talented collection of punk musicians in any band.. for whatever that's worth.
  21. @Piper Maru Another surprisingly good cover by Ministry with the classic lineup.

Some of you met my sister -

Oh Jeeeesus. Taunton, MA is my hometown. I've never met that guy, but he sounds like he'd fit right in the School St area he's from (the ghetto). Sorry for the trauma he caused to your sister, nephew and niece, and as a former Tauntonian, thank you to your sister for getting his ass wheeled into the slammer.

    J. Geils of The J. Geils Band Dead at 71

And you walk over to her door and you start poundin' on her door And you say "Open up the door bitch This is Woofa Goofa with the green teeth, let me in!" We're just 20 minutes south of Worcester, so he's a hometown hero around here. The old timers that would come in at the guitar store I worked at all seemed to have a story about seeing them or Aerosmith at their high-school auditorium for $2.
