Michal Mesko's 'Annihilation 2' (an_coop2.wad) I think, THE best all-round cooperative wad of all time.

Yes Map18 is up for whoever wants it, I'm finding it hard to work on so many maps at once. I'm sure I could quickly knock together something pretty fun to play, but visually it probably wouldnt be the highest quality. -
I love surrealism, if done with style. Thats why I love most of Doom2's levels. I give my own levels a gothic/SP_ROCK theme while going crazy with the editor and building whatever I imagine, ap_004 for example.

I think the crusher is interesting, the whole 'crusher' area was a bit big and dodgy though. I loved the dark area at the beginning with the revenant running around, and the first outside part, with the hellknight. The pit used to be my favourite map, its not 'realistic' as such but has a very unique design. I love Nirvana, because its small and really surreal. I love the part with the nukage and all those key doors. I also love the start, with imps in front of you. Bloodfalls has some great stuff in it too, a great deathmatch level as well. The chasm IS pretty average, and weird. Icon of Sin is good Coop, I think that level 31 is fucked. Suburbs isnt on my favourites list either...

when someone kills me with the BFG i get real mad, especially if they pull some incredibly-timed-round-the-corner shot. but you know, it motivates me even more. theres nothing much more humiliting than getting mushed off a high area (doom2 map15) and flying off for miles. when i hear that BFG sound, i run for cover and get ready for a counterattack. i love to kill with it, hated to be killed by it. PS. give Lobo a break

Ok guys, I'm offering the map18 slot to whoever fancies it, as I'm finding it to hard to work on several maps at once. I had already started it, but have pasted what I created into ap_010.wad. I hope someone here can take up my slack, I really would like to see this project finished soon. -

KennyJC, if you are capable, you can have my map18 slot. I've already started it but am finding it hard to find the time to work on these projects + my own project... Of course Cadman gets the final say.

My apologies for disputing with you DSM, as you are obviously the leading authority on the discussion at hand. In one final defense of doom2's levels, I will say two things; firstly, I believe a greater proportion of the custom levels released today can be compared design-wise to one or more of the maps from doom2. Secondly, I will say that I have been inspired to create levels by far more doom2 maps than doom1 maps. And you are wrong about me favouring doom2 over doom1, as that is not the case and I never said so.

what does hell look like? what does a spacestation look like? for christ sake, i cannot understand for the life of me your criticisms, i dont think your arguments are very convincing at all. I like both games, they're both got different levels and themes, and you said something about doom2 levels being surreal in design? Mt Erebus anyone? how about the whole third and fourth episodes in fact? Every critical point you have made is also a trademark in Doom 1. I assume you are a level designer so you should take a closer look at the levels I mentioned and appreciate their design.

How can anyone say that Doom2's levels suck? Map02 - yes awesome. map04 - yes awesome. map11 - great design. map17??? detailed, balanced, beautiful, not to mention fun, not many levels are released these days that can compete. Don't get me started on map22, it was detailed, simple....bla bla I love it. And when I first made it to map29, it felt climactic, tense as hell, and not many levels can do that to you. well what are you doom2 bashers gonna say bout that?

UD: Map11 is named Mandrel, and is completed, as is Map03. Map18 is still under construction. -
Gothic/Medievil, with some SP_ROCK added of course. I like tech too, the Pain Megawad is gonna have a great tech theme.
