e-Zine The White Paper

Recommended Posts

I have the first issue up of my monthly magazine called The White Paper. In this issue (which is a bit short, but they'll get longer) I talk about Doom and some other stuff. You can get to it off my main page at http://rickclark.20m.com/. Scroll down to the White Paper section.

Cool stuff. I'm off to read your fiction now. Auf Wiedersehen.

Update: I read all your short-stories, and I couldn't stop reading them. Very absorbing and well-written. There is a morbid theme that runs through them all, and I usually don't go for the morbid stuff. But in this case I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Are you by any chance a Poe fan? (How 'bout them Ravens, huh?)

I'm heavily into writing fantasy. Ever since I was in grade school and had my "Nonsense Story" published in the school year book I've been interested in writing that sort of stuff. Many, many years ago I started creating this fantasy world, beginning with my version of Creation, etc., etc. I've written several short stories (although some of them are more like novellas rather than short stories) set in this fantasy world, but have not made significant progress on the main story during the past couple of years. The reason? I've been side-tracked for the past 2 years with DooM editing. In fact during this time, I'd say that the only recreational activities I've had are DooM editing, occasional reading, and occasional TV/movie watching.

I want to get back to writing, which I really enjoy, and I think this year is when I'm going to do it. I haven't done any map editing for a whole month (although I've been editing graphics for my next planned project) and have managed to read 4 books. Unfortunately, I find the lure of DooM editing (which I find to be very creative and enjoyable) to be somewhat irresistable. So, we'll see what happens to my writing.

Anyhoo, good work on the fiction and I hope you're planning more.

I've been meaning to do writing... or probably a movie script... well, I wanna do a movie but I don't quite know how to write a script. See, for everything to make sense I need to write it in movie-script style, 1st person and 3rd person at different points. It's just so confusing I don't know where to begin.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the stories. I do have a rather dark streak, I guess because I grew up poor and saw the more seemy side of life. My vision of the future is distinctly disutopian, the little guy against the mega corporations and corrupt governments.

If you post any of your writings, let me know. I would love to read them.

Lut,

You might want to try this site:

http://www.screenwriting.com/

It has a ton of links to get you started. I use ScreenForge, a template for Microsoft Word that helps format screenplays. It's unlimited shareware so you might want to try it: http://www.execpc.com/~jesser/

BTW, I am doing a screenplay set in Doom: The Next Chapter world. I'll put it up on the Inkwell when I get it done.
